  1. "I grew up going to #Jewish-style #delis with my father, a native #NewYorker and connoisseur of #cornedbeef, #matzohball soup, and potato #latkes. He was super picky and was a big believer in choosing quality over quantity. However, some diners prioritize massive #sandwiches, huge plates of #pickles, and big bowls of soup. No matter what your preference is, there are some Jewish delis that are considered institutions. Here are the 5 best Jewish-style delis in America."

Substitute famous for best and this is fairly accurate.

  2. With tonight's post-meal decanting, I've now got two 1 L jars completely filled with finely-strained sweet-pickle brine.

I... think that’s enough brine for now.

  3. I've got a fancy pickle jar with inner basket. I decant a full jar of sweet pickles into the fancy pickle jar, and whenever I need pickles I lift the inner basket away from the brine.

  6. 💁🏻‍♀️ TIL: 🥒⚡ A decades old parlor trick finally has a scientific explanation.

Engineer Joshua Méndez Harper used monitoring equipment and high speed #cameras to solve why #pickles glow when plugged into a wall outlet. The answer involves an oscillating electric current keeping a vapor pocket open so sparks can ignite explosive gases from electrolysis.

  7. CW: political - US pickle controversy

Poor NC Mt. Olive Pickle Company. They got themselves into one instead of staying TF out of it. I think the temptation of product exposure was too great.

The pickles are quite good, especially the limited-ingredient "Clearly Pickles" line. I buy them sometimes.

  8. "On Sunday, crowds of thousands rode ferries to #GovernorsIsland to attend a kind of #NewYork-centric Coachella for #Jewishfood and culture.

With glistening waters and the Statue of Liberty in sight, the droves then descended upon a lush lawn for the festival, the #GreatNosh. Revelers in flip-flops held inflatable green #pickles while they danced on the grass. People wearing #Hebrew-lettered jewelry and #StarofDavid necklaces waited in line for portable toilets. Couples strolled together with cups of #VanLeeuwen ice cream paired with black-and-white cookies from #Zabar’s.

The #festival’s stalls were filled with #Jewish institutions that had buddied up with buzzy establishments to serve New Yawky gastronomic fusions, a concept that is the Great Nosh’s guiding idea."

  9. I picked up these Sucker Punch 3 Pepper Sweet Pickle Spears and they are great!

They are a little sweet with a complex spice flavor and sustained heat signature. It could feel the tingling and heat around my tongue and into my ears, but they didn't burn the back of my throat.

I tried them on a whim, but I really like them.

If you keep eating them, it delays the burn for a minute or so, but it comes back with a vengeance.
