Since 2000 I've been recording the #firstfrost date for my home in the Milpitas foothills. (Not much to look at yet, just a frosting on the rooftops.) Though the date bounces around each year, the trend is about one day later every two years.

My last minute #harvest before the frost tonight.
NWS forecasts a low of 27°F, but our farm weather station thinks 26°F. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a hard freeze though. 😬 I've covered all my sweet 🫑and hot 🌶 peppers with AG-50 frost row cover cloth. We shall see if the peppers can make it. The plants are loaded with immature fruits! 😫
I'm almost done bringing in all my houseplants and potted herbs.

Anyone else had to do the manic 'very early frost forecast shuffle' today? My conservatory is up a large flight of stairs - thank God my daughter was in to help! Tomatoes aren't finished yet either. Palms, ginger, tender yuccas and big pots in greenhouse. The bananas and Colocasias/Alocasias are going to have to brace themselves.

Looks like everything came out of the night mostly unscathed! It only got down to 35°F and only for a little bit. We could only cover the pumpkin/squash patch right down the middle, so the edges did get frost damage. The #garden seemed to be in it's own microclimate & I can only see damage on the green bean plants. As always, have to wait 24 hours until we can tell for sure. #FirstFrost #GardeningMastodon/4

A troubled, cold, and fitful wind is blowing on this gloomy day. I can literally feel the #FirstFrost approaching and it gives me a sense of dread.
