That is still a lot of home-grown food
@BroadforkForVictory when most people think, that there is nothing this time of the year!If I hadn't missed the latest sowing dates in September, we'd have more salad leaves now.
So I just transplanted a few volunteers from outside and some of last year's chard on a frost free day earlier this month.
There is coriander, Asian greens, wild rocket, claytonia and perennial onions "Cosmo". They all could be cropping if they'd be sown in time. Now, we probably have to wait 4-5 weeks for the first salad.edit: purslane (Portulaca oleracea) was not correct. It's claytonia (Claytonia perfoliata) we grow in winter. They have the same name in German...
I noticed that claytonia will grow almost all winter long as long as you manage to get it to a decent size before the day length drops below 10 hours. -

Trying my hand at winter #gardening. Planted 4 different kinds of garlic in late October and then put in some cold-loving brassicas, mustard greens, lettuce, shallots, and scallions. Working on row coverings for all of it to fend off the worst of the cold weather. Fortunately, PNW winters are mild (compared to, say, the upper Midwest). I expect lessons will be learned.

CW: My cilantro is sprouting - Zone 7b
The cilantro seeds I direct sowed in my raised bed are starting to sprout!
I thought I might have trouble since despite being remarkably cold hardy for a tropical herb, they need warm temps to sprout. I had planted them before I learned this. Last week I had covered the raised bed with plastic since frost was expected, but became ill and did not remove the plastic right away when temps went back up - so I think this helped. -
