  1. Before the cellar comes the harvest.

Vendemmia is dawn picking, bent backs, full crates, long communal meals — and a brief family of foods made from fresh grapes and must before the fruit disappears into wine.

  3. It started like this. But then came all those heatwaves (it's still summer warm) and an extrem drought. *All* #wine #grapes are sun-scorched brown raisin-like stuff. Even birds don't like them anymore. I could eat exactly ONE SINGLE berry. It was delicious! One precious berry.

  8. It's all about the ads. Ad blockers made advertising companies have to adapt or die. So now they come for what is with you the most: your phone. Your phones sensors are a context machine, and the more you use it, the more they can tell about you. Last time you used the screen, first time you used it, dark room - slept. Last location - home if repeating over few days.

  13. Finally finished harvesting the butternut squash and cleaned up the area it was growing in. The final count ended up being 322 squashes. We saved quite a few for ourselves and gave away the rest. Also set out what is probably the last of the okra, eggplant and peppers. Now on to pulling up and shredding the corn stalks.

  28. Food at the harvest festival.

Rotary bake cake (Šakotis) and buckwheat from a field kitchen*.

Also a lot of stalls selling cured meats, bread, sweets and cheese.

Strangely little of actual harvest or results to see though.

    * In Germany these are known as "Gulaschkanone", because with their two wheels and chimney they look like a piece of mobile artillery but serve food instead of destruction.
