A Jerusalem court just sentenced journalist Bayan Al-Jaaba (also spelled Bayan Al-Juba, Bayan al-Jo'beh) to 20 months for Facebook posts and personal photos taken at the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The charges: "incitement and support for a terrorist organization" - the standard legal machinery Israel uses to criminalize Palestinian journalism.
She was arrested in her final month of a high-risk pregnancy, released hours later, then placed under 15+ months of house arrest with a social media ban. She gave birth to her third child while confined, prohibited from using the very platforms she was convicted over.
Per #CPJ, Israel has killed 258 journalists since Oct 7, 2023 - more than any single conflict since CPJ began counting in 1992. At least 75 were classified as deliberate targeted killings. Another 108 journalists have been arrested. Israel is the world's second-worst jailer of journalists. The #ICC has issued arrest warrants for #Netanyahu and #Gallant. Not one Israeli soldier has ever been held accountable for killing a journalist.

Haaretz reports that the #ICC has issued secret arrest warrants against three Israeli politicians and two military personnel, in addition to the existing November 2024 warrants against #Netanyahu and #Gallant. Timing of the new warrants is unknown.

Sabri Essid, a French member of the Islamic State (IS), has been convicted of genocide and crimes against humanity by a Paris court for his role in atrocities against the Yazidi people. The trial, which took place in his absence, relied on harrowing testimony from Yazidi women who were enslaved by Essid between 2014 and 2016 in the IS caliphate.
Hopefully, it’ll take far less time to bring #Netanyahu and #Gallant to trial.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) rejected a legal challenge by Israel against its investigation of the Gaza war on Monday, leaving in place arrest warrants issued last year for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
The decision means the investigation will continue, and the arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant remain in effect.

What genocide?
Israel has formally requested the International Criminal Court (#ICC) to withdraw arrest warrants for #Netanyahu and ex Defence Minister #Gallant, citing the court's lack of jurisdiction and denying war crimes in Gaza. The request, submitted on May 9, 2025, also asks for a suspension of the ICC’s investigation into alleged atrocity crimes in the Palestinian Territories.
The warrants were initially issued on November 21, 2024, and an arrest warrant for Hamas leader Ibrahim al-Masri was withdrawn in February 2025. The ICC's appeals chamber had previously ordered a review of Israel's objections concerning jurisdiction in April 2025.

This decision came just three days before the ICC issued arrest warrants for #Netanyahu and #Gallant.

Israel sold weapons to the Philippines following President Rodrigo Duterte’s visit, despite mounting international condemnation of his regime’s human rights abuses, including crimes against humanity linked to the “war on drugs.” The sales occurred both during and after the visit, with Israeli defense firms securing new contracts and fulfilling prior agreements for equipment used in operations that drew ICC scrutiny.
Despite these concerns, Israel maintained its weapons export relationship with the Philippines. Israeli lawyer Eitay Mack, who led legal challenges against these arms sales, stated: “I am sure that sooner or later the U.N. and the international community will announce that what Duterte is doing, is being responsible for crimes against humanity”.
The International Criminal Court’s Pre-Trial Chamber issued arrest warrants for #Netanyahu and #Gallant on November 21, 2024, following a six-month investigation that began with applications filed by #ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan on May 20, 2024. The three-judge panel unanimously determined there were “reasonable grounds to believe” that both officials were “co-perpetrators for committing the war crime of starvation as a method of warfare, and the crimes against humanity of murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts”. The court specifically accused Netanyahu and Gallant of “intentionally and knowingly” depriving Gaza’s civilian population of “objects indispensable to their survival, including food, water, and medicine and medical supplies, as well as fuel and electricity” during the period from October 8, 2023, to at least May 20, 2024.
