Sabri Essid, a French member of the Islamic State (IS), has been convicted of genocide and crimes against humanity by a Paris court for his role in atrocities against the Yazidi people. The trial, which took place in his absence, relied on harrowing testimony from Yazidi women who were enslaved by Essid between 2014 and 2016 in the IS caliphate.
Hopefully, it’ll take far less time to bring #Netanyahu and #Gallant to trial.

Germany, home to the largest Yazidi diaspora outside Iraq, initially granted protection to those fleeing IS. But in recent years, asylum approval rates have plummeted. Following an informal readmission agreement with Iraq in 2023, Germany began deporting Yazidis back to the country they had fled.

Anlässlich des andauernden Genozides an den Jesid*innen fand in der Innenstadt von #Hannover eine Demonstration statt.2014 fiel der IS in den jesidischen Gebieten ein, tötete und verschleppt tausende Menschen, darunter größtenteils Frauen, von denen viele bis heute in Gefangenschaft sind und der Verbleib vieler unklar ist.
Auf dem Camp wurde dazu der Film #Heza gezeigt.
Wir teilen den Aufruf zur internationalen #Solidarität mit allen Betroffenen.(Der Begriff Frauen ist hier auf Wunsch Betroffener bewusst gewählt.)

On the occasion of the ongoing genocide against the #Yazidis, a demonstration took place in downtown Hannover.In 2014, the IS invaded the Yazidi areas, killing and kidnapping thousands of people, mostly women, many of whom are still in captivity today and the whereabouts of many are unclear.
The film Heza was shown at the camp.
We share the call for international solidarity with all those affected.(The term women was deliberately chosen here at the request of those affected.)
