Cae apoyo a Netanyahu tras tregua con Irán

Un alto el fuego sin logros definidos erosiona el apoyo a Netanyahu en Israel.

Jerusalén (EFE).- El apoyo al primer ministro israelí, Benjamín Netanyahu, se ha visto erosionado tras un alto el fuego con Irán percibido por los israelíes como una imposición de Estados Unidos tras 40 días de guerra que no han conseguido los objetivos prometidos, lo que ha derivado en decepción y desconfianza entre sus propias bases.

Un sondeo publicado por el Canal 12 israelí tras el cese de las hostilidades en el país persa muestra que el partido de Netanyahu (el Likud) obtendría 25 escaños si las elecciones se celebraran ahora, dos menos que los que arrojaba otro sondeo antes del conflicto de la misma cadena.

Con unas elecciones previstas para otoño, en las que los sondeos no dan a la coalición de Netanyahu la mayoría para gobernar, el retroceso en el apoyo se enmarca en un clima marcado por la división. 

Según una encuesta publicada este lunes por el Instituto de la Democracia de Israel (IDI), solo alrededor de una cuarta parte de los judíos israelíes expresó alivio tras el anuncio de la tregua.

En este contexto, la politóloga experta en opinión pública Tamar Hermann, directora del Centro Viterbi (asociado al IDI), señala a EFE que la sociedad israelí atraviesa un momento de «carga emocional».

La derecha, más crítica con el Gobierno

«Muchos israelíes todavía sienten una especie de peso; no diría depresión, pero sí una sensación de carga tras el alto el fuego», explica Hermann, quien apunta a una reconfiguración del malestar social más allá de las tradicionales divisiones ideológicas.

Según la experta, los patrones de opinión se han alterado: los votantes de izquierda muestran ahora niveles menores de malestar que sectores de centro y derecha, que tienden a ser más críticos con la situación actual y la gestión del Gobierno.

Sus palabras concuerdan con los resultados del último estudio de la Universidad Hebrea de Jerusalén, que describe una sociedad «profundamente decepcionada y pesimista» tras el alto el fuego. 

Según esta investigación, realizada coincidiendo con el anuncio de tregua, solo un 10 % de israelíes considera que la campaña contra el país persa ha sido un éxito significativo, mientras que el 32 % la califica directamente como un fracaso.

«Vemos frustración entre parte del electorado del propio Netanyahu, que siente que el Gobierno no está logrando los objetivos que se había fijado», señala la investigadora, a lo que se une la impresión de que fue una tregua impuesta por Estados Unidos sin la participación de Israel.

Este fenómeno, añade, debilita una de las principales fortalezas políticas de Netanyahu: su imagen como líder con credibilidad en materia de seguridad.

No obstante, Hermann aclara que este descontento no supone necesariamente un giro hacia la izquierda, sino posibles movimientos dentro de la derecha hacia figuras como Naftali Bennett (candidato de derecha a quien la encuesta de Canal 12 sitúa como segunda fuerza política con 22 escaños) o Avigdor Lieberman (extrema derecha).

Recelo ante una posible tregua con Hizbulá

En relación con la ofensiva en el Líbano, esta experta indica que existe un recelo generalizado ante una posible tregua con Hizbulá, así como un amplio consenso en la sociedad israelí en que la situación en la frontera con el país vecino no debe regresar al «escenario previo al conflicto». 

Existe un consenso extendido entre la población israelí de que cualquier solución duradera «deberá implicar algún tipo de entendimiento con el Estado libanés», idealmente con garantías internacionales.

Ayer martes, el Líbano se sentó a la mesa de negociación con Israel de forma directa por primera vez en más de tres décadas para tratar de poner fin a los ataques israelíes en territorio libanés, unas conversaciones de las que Hizbulá no formó parte y que se espera continúen próximamente.

Clima de desconfianza

El estudio publicado por la Universidad Hebrea también señala un alto nivel de desconfianza: más del 70 % de israelíes considera que no reciben una información completa y fiable del Gobierno sobre la guerra. Y cerca de seis de cada diez creen probable o muy probable que el conflicto vuelva a estallar en el plazo de un año.

En ese clima de escepticismo hacia el primer ministro, varios medios israelíes no retransmitieron un vídeo grabado de Netanyahu tras el anuncio del alto el fuego con Irán al no tratarse de una intervención en directo ni incluir preguntas, aunque sí informaron de su contenido.

El mandatario criticó en su cuenta de X a varios canales televisivos (como el Canal 12, Canal 11 y Canal 13, los más populares en Israel) por la decisión, que calificó de «censura». 

«La verdad prevalecerá», aseguró Netanyahu entre el creciente escepticismo en las calles, donde la incertidumbre tras el alto el fuego ha ido enfriando incluso los apoyos más sólidos dentro de su propio bloque político. –sn–

The Knesset Committee discussed removing MK Ayman Odeh following his January social media post expressing joy over “the release of hostages and prisoners” and calling to “free both peoples from the yoke of occupation.” During the hearing, Likud MK Osher Shkalim shouted at Odeh: “In another country they would put you in front of a firing squad.” Committee chair Ofir Katz called Odeh “the eighth front” and said “your presence contaminates the Knesset, there’s no place here for such terrorists.”

The legal advisor clarified the discussion must focus only on the January tweet, not other statements. Odeh defended his position, stating the government “commits crimes against humanity in Gaza” and accused officials who “justified killing 50,000 Gazans” of lacking moral authority.

The Association for Civil Rights condemned the proceedings as “fascism.”

Q: Apropos tailor-made laws, the coalition agreement between Otzma Yehudit and #Likud stipulates that the clause in the law which prevents inciters to #racism from running for the #Knesset will be revoked. But it doesn’t seem to be on the agenda, from Ben-Gvir’s point of view.

“Correct – he understands that the way things are aligned politically does not enable this at the moment ... But Ben-Gvir isn’t really interested in this. He’s gathered around him a group that obeys his authority and does as he says. He has no interest in bringing Marzel and Ben-Ari back to the Knesset at this stage. But today, if the hard core of Otzma Yehudit would be allowed a little more political leeway, they would take the racial and ethnic segregation laws that Rabbi #Kahane promoted and enact them word for word. Absolute racial separation, with a hope for obliteration.”
