Kriege entstehen nicht aus Lust und Laune – Immer geht es um Interessen
Die Osterbotschaft des US-Präsidenten Donald Trump lautete wie folgt: „Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP“
(Übersetzung: “Der Dienstag wird im Iran der Tag des Kraftwerks und der Tag der Brücke in einem sein. So etwas wird es noch nie gegeben haben!!! Öffnet die verdammte Meerenge, ihr verrückten Mistkerle, oder ihr werdet in der Hölle leben – IHR WERDET SEHEN! Gelobt sei Allah. Präsident DONALD J. TRUMP“)
Die Aussagen des US-Präsidenten nur als Blasphemie zu begreifen, wäre zur kurz gegriffen. Sie beinhalteten all das, wovor der Papst während der diesjährigen Osterfeierlichkeiten warnte: Vor einer sich ausbreitenden Gleichgültigkeit, einem Verlust von Mitmenschlichkeit, dem Willen zur Dominanz und zum Krieg, statt auf Frieden durch Dialog und Ausgleich zu setzen.
Es gelte immer das, was der US-Präsident zuletzt sage, lautete eine Kommentierung einer späteren verbalen Drohgebärde Trumps, bei der es um die Auslöschung des Iran als Zivilisation ging. Schließlich habe er danach Emissäre nach Pakistan geschickt.
So wird die Verfallszeit politischer Erklärungen extrem beschleunigt. Man könnte das auch, um einen Gedanken „der Kuttner“ (auf Facebook veröffentlicht) zu klauen, ganz anders bezeichnen: Auskotzen ohne nachzudenken.
Wo nichts so ist, wie es scheint
Wer sich auf eine derartige Achterbahn einlässt, hat zwei Optionen: Entweder das gedankenlose Auskotzen zu allem wird zum eigenen Programm oder man versteht bald gar nichts mehr und vermutet, im Irrenhaus gelandet zu sein, womöglich in Shutter Island, wo nichts so ist, wie es scheint.
Mal ist der Iran seit 47 Jahren im Krieg gegen die USA (Pressesprecherin des Weißen Hauses bei Sean Hannity, Fox) und nur Präsident Trump habe den Mut aufgebracht, ihn nun auch zu führen. Mal ist der Iran schon total besiegt, sind dessen militärische Ressourcen (fast) komplett vernichtet. Mal steht die komplette Zerstörung des Landes kurz bevor. Mal ist der regime change gelungen, eine neue, „vernünftigere“ Mannschaft am Ruder, dann wieder nicht. Die ungehinderte Durchfahrt der Straße von Hormus war zunächst gar kein Thema, gewiss nicht für die USA, allenfalls für andere „Betroffene“. Sollten die sich doch darum kümmern. Tun diese das aber dann doch nicht, sind sie unsolidarisch. Dann kam die Idee auf, dass die USA und der Iran diese Straße gemeinsam „managen“ könnten. Darauf folgte „die Blockade der Blockade“, oder, um es mit JD Vance auszudrücken, was die Iraner als Raubritter können, können wir auch, nur besser. Zur Einstimmung auf ein weitere, für den 21. April vorgesehene Treffen in Islamabad verkündete Trump, wenn Teheran einem Abkommen nicht zustimme, werde der gesamte Iran „in die Luft gesprengt“.
Auf seinem Truth Social Kanal war zu lesen: “NO MORE MR. NICE GUY! They’ll come down fast, they’ll come down easy and, if they don’t take the DEAL, it will be my Honor to do what has to be done, which should have been done to Iran, by other Presidents, for the last 47 years. IT’S TIME FOR THE IRAN KILLING MACHINE TO END!”
(Übersetzung: “SCHLUSS MIT DEM NETTER- KERL-SEIN! Sie werden schnell und ohne Umschweife zur Strecke gebracht, und wenn sie das ABKOMMEN nicht annehmen, wird es mir eine Ehre sein, das zu tun, was getan werden muss – was andere Präsidenten in den letzten 47 Jahren gegenüber dem Iran hätten tun sollen. ES IST AN DER ZEIT, DER IRANISCHEN TÖTUNGSMASCHINE EIN ENDE ZU SETZEN!“
So funktioniert Täter-Opfer-Umkehr. Im Trumpschen Weltbild (und es wird von vielen geteilt) ist nicht der Iran das Opfer von Aggression, er ist der Verursacher.
Weiter erfahren wir, dass Trump, unser „Mr. nice guy“, glaubt, er sei langmütig. Was zählt schon der Versuch, die iranische Währung zum Absturz zu bringen, kleine Leute durch barbarische Sanktionen ins Elend zu stürzen? Wen kümmern tote iranische Schulmädchen? Wen der Mord am geistlichen Oberhaupt und Teilen seiner Familie? Oder über 3 Millionen Binnen-Flüchtlinge in nur einem Monat? Wen schert es, dass rund vier Millionen Afghanen, die als Kriegsflüchtlinge im Iran leben, nun auch nicht mehr wissen, wohin sie können. Oder dass 250 Schulen zerbombt wurden, auch die Universität.
Sind die Iraner an allem selbst schuld, weil sie anders als viele ihrer ihrer Landsleute im Exil zu ihrem (angegriffenen) Land stehen, trotz des Mullah-Regimes?
Und doch, auf seine Weise führt uns Trump direkt zum politischen Kriegsziel: Er will zu Ende bringen, was seit 47 Jahren auf der US-Agenda steht: die Vollendung des regime change im Iran von 1953. Damals stürzten die USA den legitimen Regierungschef Mossadegh, dessen Agenda, die Kontrolle über die eigenen Reichtümer zu erlangen, populär war und auch vom iranischen Klerus unterstützt wurde. (Anm.: Sein Vorgänger, der in diesem Punkt viel zögerlicher war, wurde von iranischen Extremisten umgebracht).
Zudem wurde Mossadegh verdächtigt, womöglich mit der Sowjetunion zu tändeln. Kurzum, die USA duldeten keine selbstbestimmte, nationalistische Politik des Iran, schon gar nicht im Kalten Krieg. Sie zielten auf die „westliche Verankerung“ des Landes – also auf die Aufrechterhaltung der Kontrolle über den Iran und re-installierten den Schah. Der wiederum wurde 1979 durch die sogenannte Islamische Revolution entmachtet.
Niemand weiß, wie sich der Iran entwickelt hätte, hätte es den regime change 1953 nicht gegeben. Oder wenn die Übereinkunft aus Jahr 1981 eingehalten worden wäre. Wenn das Atomabkommen mit dem Iran nicht einseitig gekündigt worden wäre. Wenn der Westen, speziell die USA nicht eine scharfe Sanktionspolitik verfolgt hätte. Wenn…
Naives Verständnis von Modernisierung in nicht-westlichen Gesellschaften
In einer Dissertation eines Iraners an der Universität Jena im Jahr 2018 wird ziemlich deutlich attestiert, dass westliche Wissenschaft ein sehr „naives“ Verständnis habe, wie sich Modernisierung in nicht-westlichen Gesellschaften vollziehe, weil alles ausschließlich nach den Maßstäben der Entwicklung von westlichen Gesellschaften gemessen werde.
Westliche Politik folgt dem gleichen Denkmuster: Wenn alle so werden, wie wir uns gerne selbst sehen, wird alles sehr viel besser sein, richtig gut. So ist es nicht verwunderlich, dass westliche Aktionen seit Jahrzehnten früher oder später immer grandios scheitern, aber auf Jahrzehnte politische Folgeschäden hervorrufen, die sich im Einzelnen nur sehr schwer vorhersagen lassen. Zerstörung schafft Elend und Instabilität. Tote und Ermordete in Kriegen oder Umstürzen beflügeln das Verlangen nach Rache und Vergeltung. Gebrochene Herzen sind womöglich leichter empfänglich für Hass als die, die noch in kindlicher Unschuld schlagen. Und dann noch die vielen körperlich und geistig Geschädigten, die mahnen: Menschen werden nicht als Tötungsmaschinen geboren.
Wer das nicht glaubt, sollte bei Haaretz den Bericht („I felt I was a monster“) über die seelischen Verletzungen von IDF-Soldaten nachlesen, die Zeugen und Mittäter von Kriegsverbrechen in Gaza waren. Haaretz beschrieb grauenhafte Verbrechen, die sie nun nicht mehr aus ihrem Kopf kriegen. Derzeit, so Haaretz werde um Anerkennung dieser Krankheit gekämpft. Im Unterschied zur anerkannten PTBS, die aus Angst um sich selbst entstehen kann, entsteht diese seelische Verletzung, weil bestimmte Kriegserlebnisse als „fundamentaler Verstoß gegen grundlegende moralische Normen“ wahrgenommen werden. Die Folgen sind tiefe Schuldgefühle, Selbsthass, ein Zusammenbruch der Identität oder Zweifel am eigenen Menschsein. Sogar Kinder von Soldaten können betroffen sein, wenn sie Kriegserzählungen zuhören. Die Grauen des Krieges reichten so bis ins israelische Hauptquartier. Haaretz schilderte auch den Fall eines dort eingesetzten Luftwaffenoffiziers. Nach dem 7. Oktober 2023 dürstete dieser nach Vergeltung, war gerne Teil der Einsatzplanung der Bombardements von Gaza. Doch dann kam der Moment, in dem er die Last der Getöteten nicht mehr tragen konnte und sich obsessiv bei jedem Bild von getöteten Palästinensern fragte, ob er auch an diesem Tod schuld sei. Er stieg aus, konnte nicht mehr Teil der Tötungsmaschinerie sein und hofft, so das „restliche Gute“ in ihm noch zu retten. Noch ist auch er nicht wieder gesundet, denn dazu wird er sich das, was er sich nicht verzeihen kann, vergeben können müssen.
In einem Manova-Gespräch (Ab Min 45) wies der EP-Abgeordnete von der Schulenburg darauf hin, dass der Begriff „Mullah“ im Iran ein Schimpfwort sei. So bezeichne man dort nicht die Geistlichkeit. Dann aber kam es zum Streit, wie das Regime im Iran einzuordnen sei. Ein Teilnehmer (Jürgen) stellte fest, dass die Allgemeine Deklaration der Menschenrechte im Iran „einen Dreck wert sei. Es handelt sich um ein klerikal-faschistisches Regime.“ „ Das ist nicht wahr“, entgegnete von der Schulenburg. “So könne man das nicht sagen.“
Im Verlauf des Streits wurde dann aus „Jürgen“ „Herr Rose“. Schließlich griffen die beiden anderen Gesprächsteilnehmer ein und beschwichtigten, suchten nach dem Verbindenden zwischen den inzwischen klar erbosten Kontrahenten. Bemerkenswert war, dass keiner auf die Idee kam zu fragen, ob der Beurteilungsmaßstab der richtige ist: Wie vielen Ländern der Welt ist die Allgemeine Deklaration der Menschenrechte tatsächlich etwas wert? Auszugsweise wird sie gern zitiert (und auch verbal proklamiert). In ihrer Gesamtheit ist sie nirgendwo auf der Welt eingelöst.
Warum flutschen Begriffe wie „Faschismus“ oder „faschistoid“ heute allzu vielen so leicht über die Lippen? Faschismus, gerade der deutsche, steht für den Rückfall in tiefste Barbarei, für bis dato nie so heimtückisch ersonnene und kaltblütig exerzierte Menschheitsverbrechen.
Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg sollten und wollten alle Völker daraus lernen. Deshalb gab es die Nürnberger Kriegsverbrecherprozesse, die konsequente Verurteilung einer völkerrechtswidrigen Aggression. Deshalb wurde die Genozid-Konvention verabschiedet. Das war einst Teil des „Nie wieder“. Eine völkerrechtliche „Brandmauer“ sollte errichtet werden.
Sie ist längst gebröckelt. Wieder und wieder wird ein angeblich wiedererstandener, neuer Hitler gewittert, wird der damalige Zivilisationsbruch mit aktuellen Gefährdungen eins zu eins gleichgesetzt, ob absichtlich oder aus Dummheit sei dahingestellt. Im Ergebnis ist die „Brandmauer“ so brüchig wie nie und die Bereitschaft, sich für Krieg zu entscheiden, statt einer friedlichen, sprich diplomatischen Konfliktlösung den Vorzug zu geben, stärker geworden.
Selbstüberhöhung, die die koloniale Unterwerfung als zivilisatorischen Fortschritt maskiert
Wie praktisch, wenn man nach Einmischung, Konflikten und Krieg lechzt – immer mit dem Anspruch zu dominieren, zu beherrschen, zu unterwerfen, als könne die vielgestaltige komplizierte Welt in eine Form gepresst und nach eigenem Bild geformt werden. Die Selbstüberhöhung, die die koloniale Unterwerfung großer Teile der Welt als zivilisatorischen Fortschritt maskierte, hat sich durch die Befreiungsbewegungen nicht aufgelöst. Sie schlüpfte in das neue Gewand der „Demokratieverteidigung“, die zur Waffe des Westens geschärfte wurde.
Das hat nichts mehr mit der gelassenen Vorstellung zu tun, dass eine demokratische Ordnung aus sich selbst heraus strahlt und, einem Leuchtfeuer gleich, der Menschheit den Weg in die Zukunft weist. Das dachte etwa J.F. Kennedy. Die demokratischen Revolutionen 1989/91 in Mittel- und Osteuropa hauchten dieser Vorstellung neues Leben ein.
Mit einer fatalen Konsequenz. Statt diese Entwicklung als Selbstbefreiung europäischer Völkern zu verstehen, verfiel der Westen in die Pose des geschichtlichen Siegers, der fortan für sich in Anspruch nahm, dem rückständigen „Rest“ der Welt mit allen möglichen Mitteln aufzuzeigen, wo es langzugehen hat. Die Multipolarität der Welt, die heute niemand mehr leugnet, offenbart die historische Blindheit der westlichen Annahmen. Aber es fällt offenbar sehr viel schwerer, die Augen zu öffnen, um der ungeschminkten Realität ins Auge zu sehen, und sehr viel leichter, sich in der Rolle der gefährdeten Art zu suhlen, die von Feinden und Gegnern nur so umzingelt ist.
Oder, wie es Josep Borrell als EU-Chefdiplomat so ungeniert auf den Punkt brachte: Wir sind der demokratische Garten, vom bedrohlichen Dschungel umgeben. Später bereute er tief, dieses Bild benutzt zu haben und entschuldigte sich. Aber er traf den Nagel auf den Kopf, besser als die Münchner Sicherheitskonferenz, die 2020 über „westlessness“ lamentierte.
Insofern kam die russische (völkerrechtswidrige) Aggression gegen „die Ukraine” 2022 wie gerufen. Sie wurde zum Beweis des Kampfes zwischen Demokratie und einem autoritären Regime stilisiert und das westliche Bedrohungsgefühl so kanalisiert. Das funktioniert aber nur, wenn man die Ukraine auch zur strahlenden Demokratie uminterpretiert und zudem völlig außer Acht lässt, dass die Ukraine längst nicht mehr auf eigenen Beinen steht, sondern vom steten Zufluss westlicher Gelder und Waffen abhängig ist. Souverän ist sie längst nicht mehr.
Deshalb wird nur sehr schlecht ertragen, wenn über reale Kriegsursachen, westliche Mitverantwortung für Kriegsausbruch und -dauer oder komplizierte ukrainische Realitäten gesprochen und geschrieben wird. Streng genommen, geht man von der Ukraine in den Grenzen von 1991 aus, hat Russland nicht „die Ukraine“ angegriffen. Russland hat sich offen auf die Seite des ukrainischen Donbas gestellt, der seit 2014 in einen Krieg gegen die Kiewer Zentralgewalt verstrickt ist. Es gibt auch keine Hinweise darauf, dass die (ukrainische) Krim die russischen Aggressoren sabotiert. Das sind keine Wortklaubereien oder Petitessen, sondern Teil einer äußerst komplizierten historischen Gemengelage.
Es gibt immer wieder Stimmen, die sagen, dass der nun vier Jahre dauernde Krieg ganz leicht dadurch beendet werden könnte, dass sich Russland militärisch aus der Ukraine zurückzieht. Es muss nur einfach aufhören, aggressiv zu sein. Wäre es doch nur so simpel!
Zur Erinnerung: Es brauchte gut 10 Jahre, einen verlorenen Krieg und Friedensverhandlungen, bis die USA aus Vietnam abzogen, gut 20 Jahre, einen weiteren verlorenen Krieg und Verhandlungen mit den Taliban, bis die USA Afghanistan (fluchtartig) verließen. Im Irak und in Syrien sind sie immer noch präsent.
Aber im Unterschied zum aktuellen Ukraine-Konflikt handelte es sich bei diesen US-geführten Kriegen nie um US-Sicherheitsinteressen in der unmittelbaren Nachbarschaft. Es ging nie um die Zugehörigkeit zu einer militärischen Allianz. Es ging nie um Völker, die eine lange, in Teilen auch sehr strittige Geschichte und Kultur miteinander verbindet. Sowohl die Ukraine als auch Russland sind die modernen Erben der Sowjetunion. Perestroika, nationaler Neubeginn, aber auch das Scheitern der Gemeinschaft Unabhängiger Staaten nach der Auflösung der Sowjetunion drücken dem aktuellen Konflikt einen zusätzlichen Stempel auf.
Aber manchmal treffen Vereinfachungen auch einen neuralgischen Punkt. 2018 erklärte der einflussreiche US-Demokrat und damalige Mehrheitsführer im Senat, Chuck Schumer, einem AIPAC-Auditorium, worin aus seiner Sicht die wirklichen Gründe für den Nahostkonflikt lägen: „Zu viele Palästinenser und zu viele Araber wollen keinen jüdischen Staat im Mittleren Osten. Die Palästinenser denken: die Europäer behandelten die Juden schlecht, was im Holocaust kulminierte, und gaben ihnen unser Land. Natürlich sagen wir (Anm.: Schumer ist ein Jude), das ist unser (jüdisches) Land. So steht es in der Thora geschrieben. Aber die Palästinenser glauben nicht an die Thora…” (Ab Minute 4:46)
Man muss unterstellen, dass Schumer weiß, wie die ursprüngliche UN-Regelung lautete, um ein Territorium unter zwei Völkern aufzuteilen. Formal gab er anfänglich durchaus ein Bekenntnis zur Zwei-Staaten-Lösung ab. Aber dann kam er zu des Pudels Kern: Was ist „unser Land“, und damit zur Frage, wie man es sich holt. Indem man die Palästinenser zur Thora bekehrt?
Dass Kriege nicht einfach beendet werden können, sieht man auch am aktuellen Iran-Krieg. Verhandlungen oder Krieg? Trump verlängerte den Waffenstillstand, die Blockade-Politik aber blieb. Er versucht immer wieder, den Iran in Zugzwang zu bringen und exekutiert ganz nebenbei Ankündigungen aus der Nationalen Sicherheitsstrategie 2025. Als Energieexporteur, neuerdings mit den venezolanischen Ressourcen im Rücken, geht es um die Energiedominanz der USA, ihre Kontrolle über die Energieversorgung (China), auch um den Preis einer großen nationalen und globalen Krise.
“Aufrichtige Dankbarkeit” und kein Plan
Der Bundeskanzler war ausdrücklich Pakistan dankbar, dass es sich als Vermittler anbot. Aber auch aufrichtige Dankbarkeit kann nicht darüber hinwegtäuschen, dass die EU nun schon ein drittes Mal in diesem Jahrzehnt in einem geopolitischen Konflikt komplett versagt.
Trump bezeichnete die US-Verhandler, die erneut nach Islamabad aufbrechen sollten, als sein „A-Team“: Witkoff, Kushner, JD Vance. Weder das Pentagon noch das State Department wurden gefragt, also keine wirklichen Profis, nur Insider, denen der US-Präsident offenbar traut.
Innerhalb der EU herrscht keine Einigkeit, ob man nun mit den USA und Israel solidarisch sein muss oder nicht. So verschob sie ihre geopolitischen Ambitionen auf eine imaginäre Zukunft – nach dem Krieg, wenn eine stabile Friedenslösung da sein wird. Kurzum, die EU hat von A bis Z gar kein Team, und auch keinen Plan. Und das nun schon viel zu lange.

Ofri Ilani in #Haaretz uses a Stanisław Lem story to explain something analysts keep refusing to say plainly: the world is run by an idiot.
In Lem’s “Idiota” (in “A Perfect Vacuum”; OM), parents of a severely disabled infant convince themselves he is a superior being, freed from language, morality, and limits. They build a cult around interpreting his drool as metaphysical insight. Eventually they abandon reason entirely to imitate him.
Ilani observes correctly that this is exactly what Israeli public opinion does with #Trump. And not only Israel. The “best analysts” at Foreign Policy and Foreign Affairs do it too. They can’t admit the conclusion because it means accepting an arbitrary, absurd world. So they manufacture strategy where there is none.
[…] But at a certain point the stupidity just screams to the heavens. You have no choice but to acknowledge it – unless you belong to a particularly fanatical cult of believers. And the war against #Iran is one of those moments. This is simply a stupid, absurd, and destructive war. There is no point looking for any hidden logic in it.
He concluded: Napoleon also smashed the old order violently, but claimed to replace it with Reason. Trump replaces it with stupidity and ignorance. Supporting Trump is therefore explicitly nihilistic – not a political position, simply the desire to watch the world burn.

Un video che abbiamo pubblicato su #Haaretz mostrava come, per circa 45 minuti, i soldati siano rimasti indifferenti accanto al bambino ferito ma ancora vivo, senza prestargli alcun soccorso.
Da quando ci siamo incontrate alla fine di gennaio, Safaa Jadallah mi ha chiamato o scritto ogni pochi giorni, esprimendo la sua sorpresa per il fatto che, nonostante l’attenzione dei media, #Israele non abbia restituito il corpo di suo figlio alla famiglia.
Su sua richiesta, ho contattato diverse persone in Cisgiordania e in Israele per verificare se fossero disposte a parlare con lei riguardo alla restituzione della salma di suo figlio.

The Iranian news agency #Tasnim published documentation claiming to show the downed drone, reporting it was a "Kochav" (Hermes 900) type drone shot down near the city of Khorramabad. Last week, Iran shot down another Israeli "Kochav" drone using surface-to-air missiles. Iranian broadcasting authority reported it was intercepted by air defense systems in Isfahan.

Israel informed its High Court that #IDF lacks effective control over #Gaza and therefore cannot secure humanitarian aid. #Haaretz revealed that the military deliberately allows armed Palestinians affiliated with two prominent Rafah clans to extort "protection money" and loot aid trucks. This systematic blocking and looting occurs with the IDF's tacit approval in a designated "looting zone" near the crossing, resulting in recent UN reports of 97 out of 106 convoy trucks being plundered.
The state maintains it will not allow private merchants to bring food and goods into Gaza, while aid organizations argue this policy, combined with the permitted looting, effectively prevents aid from reaching civilian population.

Meanwhile, as documented in the article, the state now claims it cannot secure aid delivery while simultaneously allowing systematic looting in designated "looting zones" - a combination of policies and practices that effectively prevents aid from reaching civilians in need. The state's latest response to the court denies responsibility by claiming lack of "effective control" in Gaza, even as it maintains control over aid entry points and reportedly enables interference with aid delivery.
