CW: Pet death, sad but not gruesome
It's been a shit week.
We're dealing with relationship stuff. I don't want to go into it other than to say that we're dealing with it and sometimes people fall back into destructive survival habits that worked when we were kids but are actually toxic and harmful. It doesn't mean that a relationship needs to be over, it just means there's something to work on.. and that sometimes that work needs to be triaged because there is the Big Thing to deal with that triggered the fall back towards survival habits.
On top of that it was a week of pet deaths. Greg lost his cat Alethea after being diagnosed with a cancerous tumor 18 months ago that took her eye.
And Pikelet died on Wednesday. I don't know what happened, she just wasn't right when I said good morning to her.. she seemed agitated, but not her normal level of disgruntlement and she had left some of her veges uneaten overnight (absolutely unheard of!), so I called the vet and took her in straight away (guinea pigs get sick very quickly). She died on the way in. The vet said his best guess was a massive cerebral event, and that he could tell from her condition that she hadn't been sick and I didn't *miss* something.
I was trying not to tell Greg because he has so much else he's dealing with at the moment, but I ended up telling him last night and I think he summed it up well— "what the fuck?! The 12th of August can get in the fucking bin."
I haven't been able to break down her cage yet. It's crazy how such a tiny pet was such a driving force in our household.
I'm sad, and all this sucks.
