**IMSAI 8080 – the real computer behind *WarGames* (1983)**
How did early microcomputers work with switches, LEDs and a terminal?
And how much of the IMSAI 8080 in *WarGames* was real technology – and how much was Hollywood?
I just published a new blog article and linked it directly to the interactive exhibit in my Computer Museum:
Blog article:
https://www.dennishilk.com/blog/imsai-8080-wargames-computer/
Interactive exhibit:
https://www.dennishilk.com/museum/imsai-8080/
The article covers:
the **IMSAI 8080** and the **Intel 8080**
the connection to ***WarGames***, **WOPR** and the early home-computing era
**front-panel programming**, memory addresses and machine code
what was historically real in the film – and what was fiction
my interactive browser reconstruction with a working **front panel**, **terminal** and a **WarGames-inspired bonus experience**
If you like retro computers, computing history or early hacker culture, you may enjoy this one. ❤️

Blogartikel:

Interaktives Exponat:
https://www.dennishilk.com/de/museum/imsai-8080/
