  1. RE: social.anoxinon.de/@ninawillbu

In the series 'Nothing Changes', this decorated Greek hairnet from more than 2200 years ago.

Our tools change; luckily health care and our eye for humanism changed during the last few centuries, but everything else stayed the same.

Politics, relationships, business, crime, fashion, theatre (the Iliad), what brings us happiness (community & sharing food and stories) and a longing for comfort and beauty, it all didn't change.

  3. Did you know that there's an #Italian woman that may embellish #history a tiny bit to preserve an #ancient #art?

Chiara Vigo is a #craft woman who works with byssus - the beard hairs of a #mediterranean clam.
The resulting fiber is spun into a thin but warm golden #fabric.

The clam used is Pinna nobilis & unfortunately, its harvest is now illegal. Vigo claims to be the last person able to work with the fillament, & that she swore a "xuramento da auga" (water oath) to do so without profit.

Vigo says she harvest Pinna nobilis without harming the clam - a claim disputed by the curator of the Muschelseide ("clam silk", in Eng. ususally sea silk) Museum in Basel, Switzerland.

Curator Maeder has found at least 2 more women in #Sardinia who work with donated sea silk.

  5. 💁🏻‍♀️ TIL: 🥚✏️ Engraved #ostrich eggshells dating to over 60,000 years ago, from sites including #Diepkloof and #Apollo11, were systematically analyzed.

Over 80% of 112 fragments showed consistent spatial rules, with repeated right angles and parallel lines. The researchers argue this rule-based organization points to planned abstract thought and early symbolic systems.

  7. 💁🏻‍♀️ TIL: 🍞🕰️ At the #Neolithic settlement of #Çatalhöyük in #Turkey, researchers found a spongy residue near an ancient oven, ringed by wheat, barley, and pea seeds.

#Microscopy revealed air bubbles and starch grains, pointing to uncooked fermented dough. Dated to about 8,600 years ago, it predates earlier fermented #bread evidence from #Egypt by thousands of years.
