More progress from the diorama piece. But I really need to finish it up. Only one month until deadline. I still need to make the underwater base underneath it. Oh and a huge ass kraken. 😅 #Nerdlings #MiniPainting #miniaturepainting #terrainBuilding

More progress done on my sratchbuild ship for the diorama. I now have a headcanon that my little fox maker is the shipwright for this and is hammering and screwing down all the planks. 😄 #Nerdlings #MiniaturePainting #MiniPainting #terrainBuilding

It is quite fun to build with coffee stirrer and other small wood stuff. It‘s getting somewhere I think. 😄 #Nerdlings #miniaturePainting #terrainBuilding

I went under the coffee stirrer terrain builders. But unlike @erikcats I have a conscience and did buy a big pack of them instead of robbing a Starbucks. 😄 #Nerdlings #miniaturePainting #terrainBuilding

Slight spoilers for the #DelianTomb but I'm so happy with how this terrain has turned out!
My own take on magnetic dungeon tiles plus some extra bits without nasty near-unrecyclable XPS foam :)

Dry bushing and washing the trunk and roots. The texture is from scratching the epoxy putty with a knife while it was still soft plus the twisted florist wire showing through. I'll put some sort of detail in the hole under the roots but haven't decided what yet. Maybe a small borrowing animal peaking out. I might be able to sculpt a passable rat.

Making a tree armature from scratch. Florist wire, milliput, mod podge, fender washers, sea foam, and lots of PVA and CA glue. Painted with a grey-brown spray primer/base.
Needs some dry brushing and washing and obviously foliage. I'd like to do something more than basic flocking.
It's not for a larger diorama or gaming setup, just a tree for its own sake and as a learning experiment.

I've prepared something from #ManticGames #terraincrate parts and trash.

Here's a picture of the 12 main terrain tutorials that I released over on the channel in 2025 (not including challenges, announcements, bonus videos, etc.).
I also have a couple of pictures of what's coming next in my latest newsletter (along with other gaming nonsense) - if that's of interest:

If you flip a dice tray inside out it makes a decent hill for #alphastrike. Ideally it would be a bit shorter and a more natural colour. A way of securing the corners either way (magnets instead of snaps) would allow for two different colours from each hill.
Maybe augment with toppers for more variety (say, grey and brown, then green, white, and tan toppers.)
Also magnets to secure modules together and some supporting shapes like half hexes.

Here's another update on the terrain I'm making for my next video over on YouTube.
(here's the link to the channel if you want to check out some of my other stuff: https://www.youtube.com/c/CrookedStaffTerrain )
And, with any luck, I might get the video and pdf released sometime later this month (fingers crossed 😅 ).

Here's a couple of pic's of some new (papercraft-ish) walls I've been developing.

More progress on the tree base. For visualization I sprayed some OSL lighting on the base. After painting the mushrooms and plants, I applied static grass and flocking for leaves to the tree. #MiniaturePainting #Nerdlings #TerrainBuilding #paintingminis
