My phone occasionally replays images from its stored memory, and I wish it hadn't shown me this one!

How wonderful it is when a picture flashes before your eyes, bringing back moments of happiness and gatherings with loved ones, a genuine smile from the heart spreading across your face.

But this picture didn't bring a smile; instead, it transported me back to the depths of the starvation war in northern Gaza, to days of loss, hunger, and displacement, and to the pain that has settled in my heart since the martyrdom of my brothers, who were a great support to me.

What's in the picture isn't the bread we know and enjoy eating. The unscrupulous merchants claimed it was made from corn flour, but then the gastroenteritis revealed the truth; it was more like animal feed than human food.

We ate it because hunger leaves us no choice!

We went hungry, we were displaced, we suffered, we lost our loved ones, our homes were destroyed, and we lived through days when simply obtaining a morsel to postpone our hunger was a blessing.

This picture is not just a memory, but a testament to a time when the world thought hunger could break human dignity. But God strengthened our hearts, fortified our spirits, and granted us a patience we never thought we possessed. All the memories on my phone now tell a story of pain and suffering from the beginning of the war until this very moment. Speak up for us, support us, help us. Your support eases our suffering and helps us to persevere and survive.

For us in Gaza, UNRWA is not just an organization or a name mentioned in the news. It has been an integral part of our lives for decades. We were educated in its schools, treated in its clinics, and it has been a lifeline for thousands of families in the most dire circumstances.

For over seventy years, it has witnessed the Nakba of our people and the ongoing suffering of refugees. Today, as we endure one of the most severe humanitarian crises, millions of Palestinians still depend on its services for survival.

History cannot be erased by abolishing UNRWA's role, nor can the memory of displacement or the needs of the people be obliterated by a mere declaration. We stand in full solidarity with UNRWA and with all who believe that the people of Gaza and Palestinian refugees deserve life and dignity, not to be left alone to face hunger, displacement, and destruction.

Because dignity is a right, and because the people of Gaza and the refugees should not be left alone.

Gaza today does not need to lose those who are helping it, but rather more support, protection, and dignity.

Herdenkingsprotest kinderen Gaza

De Dam, Amsterdam, zondag 12 april om 11:00 CEST

Aanstaande zondag 12 april organiseren we opnieuw een herdenkingsprotest. Deze mooie kinderen mogen niet vergeten worden en we moeten opstaan voor de velen die nog aan het overleven zijn.

Iedereen is welkom tussen 11u en 16u op de Dam in Amsterdam. Om schoenen te plaatsen, een bloem of tekening neer te leggen en om samen op te staan.

Het is ook mogelijk om te helpen met het neerzetten van de schoenen en het uitdelen van flyers.

This coming Sunday, April 12, we are organizing another memorial protest. These beautiful children must not be forgotten and we must stand up for the many who are still surviving.

Everyone is welcome between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM at Dam Square in Amsterdam. To place shoes, lay down a flower or drawing, and to stand together.

It is also possible to help with placing the shoes and handing out flyers.
