The Cornell University Student Union in the United States has launched a broad petition and filed a formal complaint against the university administration, protesting what it describes as an arbitrary decision to cancel and freeze financial funding allocated to student groups supporting the Palestinian cause.

This legal and grassroots action seeks to challenge the administration’s attempts to restrict academic and student activism in support of Gaza. The students argue that cutting funding is a form of political punishment aimed at silencing their voices and placing institutional pressure on students who oppose Zionism and the war in Gaza.

In its complaint, the union stated that the measure violates the university’s internal regulations and freedom of expression, and that it seeks to weaken student-led BDS movements that are pressuring Cornell to divest from arms companies and banks linked to Israel.

When Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich speaks about removing Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank, these words cannot be treated as just another political statement. For Palestinians, they echo a terrifying reality we have lived through for years: the fear of being displaced from our homes and homeland.

Imagine an American singer grieving over the unimaginable number of children killed in Gaza, speaking openly in solidarity with the people of Gaza. 💔

O’Connell said that if there were just one funeral every day for every Palestinian child killed, the mourning and burials would continue for 53 years without interruption.

Fifty-three years of funerals… 53 years of mothers who should have been holding their children instead of burying them. 💔

And I cannot help but wonder with sadness: where are the voices of so many Arab artists? Why have we heard not a word, not even a single sentence, in the face of this immense tragedy?

There has been widespread European condemnation of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s remarks, in which he described Palestinians as “not human” and called for the killing of 30–40 Palestinians from Gaza every night.

Germany and Sweden are among the countries that have condemned these remarks, amid calls for European sanctions against extremist Israeli ministers.

As Palestinians, we do not want more statements of condemnation alone. We want real and meaningful action to stop incitement to kill us and protect civilian lives.

Umm Surur Abu Salah… a photograph that must never be forgotten. 🖤

This is the martyr Umm Surur Abu Salah. She had just returned from the funeral of one of her grandchildren, who was killed by an Israeli sniper near the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza in December 2023.

She returned with the grandchildren who remained, unaware that the hospital had been surrounded and that the members of her family sheltering there were no longer safe. Even the grandchildren’s embrace of their grandmother could not protect them. They were killed together. Umm Surur remained bleeding and crawling toward her grandchildren until she finally held them in her arms. They all died together.

This is not just a photograph. It is a testimony to a tragedy endured by the people of Gaza, and to families who were destroyed while the world remained silent.

We in Gaza do not ask you to forget our suffering. Remember that we are still living through fear, loss, hunger, and displacement. Families are still struggling for the most basic rights: food, medical care, safety, and dignity.

Please do not let our stories be buried with those who lived them. 💔

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has reportedly called for continued assassinations and bombardments in Gaza every single day, with reports circulating about calls to eliminate dozens of people each night.
