This is a #grass‽ From giant bamboos to maize and the common lawn ryegrass, #Poaceae can be quite variable. #Panicum cupressifolium from #Madagascar has minute leaves, making it look like a #cypress (hence the name).

Mangoes are known for their delicious fleshy #fruits. The #mango #fruit is not large berry but a so-called #drupe. In drupes, the innermost layer of the fruit, called "endocarp", is not fleshy like in a #berry (e.g., avocado, grapes or kiwi), but hard and called "#pyrena", "pit" or "stone". Inside the stone, one can find the actual #seed. Cherries, plums and peaches are also drupes.
The seed has 2 large embryonic leaves, so-called "cotyledons" that store nutrients -

He encouraged #Farmers to #Plant rubber #Trees & devised #Ingenious ways to #Tap for #Latex without harming the #Tree.
By 1920, #Malaya produced over half the world's rubber.
And to think it all started with #Seeds Henry collected from 22 #Plants...

It was the first time Andre saw Yellow Root (Rhododendron minus), also called the #Piedmont #Rhododendron, which is native to #Tennessee, #NorthCarolina, South Carolina, #Georgia, & #Alabama.

A #FavouriteFind this year was rediscovering Britain’s largest population of Spotted Rock-rose (Tuberaria guttata) at a site on #Anglesey not recorded since 1985. Utterly thrilling to stumble across hundreds of thousands of plants. You have to survey in the morning as the flowers loose their petals at lunchtime #iamabotanist #botany #wildflowers
