That is also nothing new - public money via USDA & land grant universities has been going into the aims of corporations and big growers for a while. There is some work to help smaller growers & home gardeners, but it's less and happening at fewer places.
Because I love tree fruit, of course I find it sad those trees are being grubbed up. And those are just the processing peaches. The fresh eating peach growing acreage in CA had already reduced for market reasons.
