  1. Let’s call it a day. All vegetation done. Now it is time for the main character. Don’t fool yourself. Still a lot of texturing and microlines to be done on plants but… ending is near. #illustration #drawing #finalsteps #mushrooms #forest #robot #ink #inking #mastoart #mastoartist #handdrawn #lightable #wip #workinprogress #moss #fungi

  8. @klepsydra

Thanks! Didn't know that; certainly plausibly Pratchettian.

I met Sir Terry once. Great man; perhaps even greater hat.

Fast lookups: The net suspects a version of the quote is from his "The Light Fantastic." Opinions differ as to whether it specifically said "mushrooms" or "fungi" or "some things."

  9. Had lots of fun last weekend streaming panels from the 5th Los Angeles World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon) in Anaheim, California.

One delightfully dark, new-to-me little saying may have come from the panel titled "Poisonous Plants: When 'Natural' Is Not Very Good for You":

"All mushrooms are edible. Some are only edible once."

  11. Its maybe chicken of the woods,

quite sure but have not checked properly for 4 defining characteristics

I have experience with eating mushrooms from nature and am excited.

Do i harvest all of it? Should i cut it along the stump or break it?

  16. Two ways to take a closeup with iphone. The first one has the little flower "macro" button turned on, which I use most of the time. For the second photo I turned off that button, switched to 2x zoom, move back a little to reframe, and if needed tap and hold subject so focus/exposure gets set/locked. Photo ends up with more blurred background. Portrait mode can also work with some flowers and mushrooms, providing some editing control over focus placement and depth.
