  1. A part of a therapy thing I'm doing, I've got to chat to my inner child.

No idea how to do that, but I've got a blank note pad, some whiskey, and some time to fill.

#Tufts researchers surveyed 514 U.S. #adolescents ages 13-17 and one parent each, looking at how specific qualities of a teen’s relationship with their #dog connect to coping with peer #stress. They found companionship and caring for the dog linked to healthier coping, while friction and viewing the dog as a replacement for people tied to less healthy strategies.

    URL: sciencedaily.com/releases/2026

Childhood criticism can leave people carrying a fear of failure long into adulthood, but new research suggests those emotional patterns may be surprisingly flexible. Young adults who revisited painful memories through imagery-based therapy showed lasting reductions in fear, guilt, sadness, and stress.

Viruses aren’t simply tiny villains. They help regulate bacterial populations, recycle nutrients, and drive evolution by moving genes around.

Some ancient viral DNA even became useful to us. A famous example is syncytin, derived from an ancient retrovirus and now important in forming the placenta.

We also use viruses medically, including in gene therapy, cancer treatments, and bacteriophage therapy against some bacterial infections.

So yes, a virus can make you bloody sick. But in nature, viruses are also part of the machinery that keeps life changing and adapting.

  6. Jersey is currently in continued training with the other therapy dogs. Even though she’s already a therapy dog, there’s always more to learn and ways to sharpen those skills. Pretty damn cool watching this crew work, learn, and support each other. Proud of Jersey and all these good dogs.

  8. The Backrooms

They say good art changes how you perceive - whether it be of yourself or the world it adds something. Or perhaps it takes something away from your perception that allows you to see something more clearly. One way or another, art allows you to recognize things that you might not otherwise recognize through mundane life. I've been exploring the backrooms of my mind lately, revisiting memories and past decisions. Memory is a fickle thing according to experts, it is well known that eye witness […]

  10. One thing that bothers me about therapy talk is the phrase "you have no responsibilities to anyone".

That doesnt make sense. If you're a parent, you have responsibilities to your kids. If you are employed, on a team, or make one promise: you have a responsibility.

If you go to therapy, you are responsible for payment.

It can be a comforting phrase, to take stress off you. But sounds wildly inaccurate. And very abuse-able.

  11. I wasn’t coping very well with not coping. I wasn’t communicating. Until couples #therapy today where it all came out and blew up.

Things are better now. Sod’s Law that when you need to communicate most, you’re least able.
