New spade put to the test. Planted a blueberry bush in the garden, moved a spruce seedling from a hopeless spot by the forest road to my little tree school row and two more maple seedling to the backyard.

The little spruce seedlings are really hard to spot as the grass is much taller than them now. I knew there were several in that area but only found one.

The maples seem to reliably grow their taproot uphill, so when they sprout on a slope its easy to dig them out without severing it. The leaves are easy to spot, too.

Finally got around to replanting my tree seedling/clone experiments, something I've kinda neglected to do for far too long.

The two surviving Thujas I grew from seeds were half dead and their roots look not so great, but apparently thujas do have brown roots, so maybe they'll make it.

The clones from spruce cuttings had mostly not managed to develop roots and I got a little sad about that until I got to this one, which somehow was rocking huge roots and a fresh sprouting tip at the top 🥳

A few others had a tiny start of a root. They're all planted out front in a little tree school row now. I think that one will at least make it!

#GreenOps isn't just about carbon — water matters too. 💧

Data centers consume enormous amounts of water, and AI is intensifying that demand. Yet most cloud dashboards (and even some commercial #greenops tools) don't measure it at all.

We just merged a PR in #SPRUCE to add water consumption estimates — including regional water stress data from WRI Aqueduct. A litre used in Canada ≠ a litre used in South Africa.

As far as we know, no other #greenops solution does this. We think it should.

Penny went to the store and came back with a forest of 10 Dwarf Alberta Spruce of various ages in pots that were left over from Christmas time. They were almost giving them away. She wants to go back tomorrow and get the rest of them. The large ones were $10 and the smaller ones, $5 #Spruce #Trees She said she also has the only car in town with an authentic pine air freshener.
