  1. #nyc I was hoping to catch the #nybg New York botanical gardens 2026 orchid show today.

NYBG’s indoor huge glass atrium, the Haupt Conservatory, is usually a colorful respite from the cold and a good spot to go for a walk with friends. (Even if I remain kinda mad at management there for working hard to cancel the much needed Fordham busway.)

But their ad campaign has me totally weirded out.

Can someone explain this to me - not an artist, a news consuming scientist?

Is right now the moment to promote a guy in a full on gas mask and dark glasses?

  2. Trying a new treatment this time around! This series from NYBG pertains to a number of beautiful blossoms found throughout the grounds! I always gotta start with some lilies! #nature #flowers #nybg #fall #autumn #fallvibes #autumnvibes #fallcolors #autumncolors #leica #leicaq343

  3. Fall at NYBG is absolutely beautiful. I have a few sets I’ll be posting over the week. This set is of beautiful fall colors set against an incredibly blue sky! #nature #trees #nybg #fall #autumn #fallvibes #autumnvibes #fallcolors #autumncolors #leica #leicaq343

  4. A visit to nybg today brought with it a stunning view of their corpse flower just about to bloom. Seems like we are probably off by about two day, so it was just getting ready to open. The moment we entered the area there was a faint scent, alluding to the effervescence forthcoming! #nature #nybg #corpseflower #plant #flower #naturelovers #leica #leicaq343 #polarpro135series

  5. Survived this week

So, went to vicariously visit #Mexico in #nyc via #nybg #orchid show

Staging in the desert section is perfection

This annual event always has a special place in my memory as one of the last normal things I did precovid

    So many hallmarks

    Maybe 2025 is one too

  6. While bluesky and mastodon fix under the hood... I was at #NYBG Botanical Gardens yesterday in The #Bronx... The Lilacs have fresh, blooming and fragrant flowers. The Magnolias have fuzzy buds. Is this #ecology adaptation to #ClimateChange ? Typical 3rd summer in #nyc? Can someone explain?

  7. #nyc had been in #drought without any rain for months.

Finally - we have 2.5 days of decent, drizzle with just shy of 2” of rain. And … I plants are blooming. Just before winter. (??)

We are still in a drought and rain deficit, but the fire risk should be abated.

Today in the #bronx #nybg the Lilacs have real, fragrant flowers and the Magnolias see resplendent with fuzzy buds. Like it’s March.

Can my #ecologist friends please explain this to me? Has #climatechange confounded our flora?

  8. Reading Crossings in ch 9 The Last Frontier and really mad at the sanctimonious assholes who run #nybg and #BronxZoo . Fuck them . Fuck them . Fuck them .

  9. The #Kiku exhibit at #NYBG the Botanic Gardens in #TheBronx #NYC is always one of my favorites.

Wander through the flames of the Maples at peak fall foliage 🍁 and arrive at a glasshouse full of the splendor of a thousand varieties of #chrysanthemums 🌼, carefully curated for over a year to deliver a particularly patient (these take 1.5 years to grow 🤯) and beautiful brand of artistry.

  10. It took me a while to get these photos together from our trip to the New York Botanical Garden. NYBG is one of our favorite places to visit throughout the year, and the flowers during this last visit were gorgeous. #nybg #garden #flower #flowers #plant #plants #nature #photography #naturephotography #sonycamera #sonya7rv #sony2470gmii #adobelightroom

  11. Might have to take the morning off one day this week.

The Corpse Flower is blooming again at the New York Botanical Gardens.

  12. I'll be co-presenting, representing the NYC Pollinator Working Group, with Tohmi Barrett of the NYBG NYC EcoFlora Project in the 3rd session slot this afternoon, 2:45-4:15. We're talking about how community gardens and gardeners can use iNaturalist to help with garden management, education, and stewardship.

  14. Took advantage of the holiday and the excellent weather to head up to the New York Botanical Garden's orchid show. Made for a beautiful day.

Pictures by my husband, who is a much better photographer than me.

  15. Pickings are slim for #WildflowerHourNYC after the deep freeze last weekend. So instead, here is a #nybg #mushroom that looks a little like a mum bloom.

September 2019 picture of a Chicken of the Woods (I think, please forgive and correct me mycologist friends) on a stump in New York Botanical Gardens. Since it does *look* like a beautiful mum bloom — today its an honorary wildflower.

He married the famous #Bryologist Elizabeth Gertrude Knight.
Inspired by Kew Gardens, the couple co-founded the New York Botanical #Garden (#NYBG).

The botanist Henry #Rusby recounted seeing beautiful #Botanical drawings on Nathaniel's desk.

"[After he said] he was the #Artist, I asked, 'Can you #Draw like that?'

He said, 'Why do you suppose I did all that hard work in drawing class?'"
