This video came across my feed just before this post, and I could not help but put them together for y'all.
Now, here's the thing. We can all agree that #farmers are the beneficiaries of all the social programs we've enacted as a country. And we can all agree that they voted against their own interests.
But the important thing, and I keep stressing this over and over, is that there IS GOING TO BE A FOOD CRISIS IN AMERICA. It's going to be bad. I am not a prepper in the traditional sense, but I really don't want to be Cassandra when this all happens. Please believe me when I tell you that ag futures and climate predictions on top of the labor problem means that #crops are not getting picked, and that means #food is going to be scarce, with a government that will not help.
If you can #stockpile things which can help other people, like dried beans, nut butters, rice...it's not a bad idea to get a Quaker pantry going. I really fear what could come.

The Man who that neither the culture vultures nor cancer could kill, the man who captivated generations of people!
When we think of great men and women, we tend to think of prophets, kings, statesmen, warriors, and the mythological figures who gave civilizations a language for understanding their world—and the courage to conquer it. Rarely, however, do we place pop-culture icons in that same category. They are often dismissed as temporary celebrities: products of their moment, destined to be reduced to nostalgia once their era has passed.
But every so often, an exception emerges that challenges the rule and gives rise to a generation voice.
On July 27, 1988, pop culture created one of those exceptions. Though like the rule itself, this moment was almost reduced to one failed season not fit for nostalgia.
What appeared at first to be another character, another story, another piece of entertainment became something far more enduring: a generational icon whose archetypal message survived the cultural shifts that sought to redefine, dismantle, and ultimately forget the ideals he represented.
Raising the question of whether we should mistake pop culture icon’s or heroes as mere entertainment for that moment when civilization need them most.
Jeremy Clarkson didn’t simply host a car show—he helped transform the way the world thought about cars. When Top Gear first appeared on April 22, 1977, its purpose was relatively straightforward: showcase automobiles and reflect Britain’s automotive industry. Decades later, Clarkson would help turn that modest concept into a global pop-culture phenomenon, transforming Top Gear from an automotive program into entertainment, comedy, travel, competition, and personality-driven television.
But no revolution happens alone.
Richard Hammond and James May were essential to the formula. Their contrasting personalities, competing perspectives, and unmistakable chemistry transformed three presenters into something far greater: a trio that became synonymous with an era of television and almost as iconic as the cars they drove.
They reinvented the car show—and proved that sometimes the greatest television isn’t about the subject at all. It’s about the people who make you care about it. And that they did because we all had tears in our eyes when they signed off The Grand Tour for the last time in Africa.
When The Grand Tour aired its final episode in 2024, it wasn’t simply the end of a television show—it felt like the closing chapter of a relationship millions of us had grown up with. For nearly three decades, Clarkson, Hammond, and May took us across the world, through impossible roads, remote landscapes, ridiculous challenges, and some of the greatest cars ever built. When it finally ended, the questions were inevitable: Would we ever see the three of them together again? What comes next? And can the automotive world ever feel quite the same without them?
For an entire generation, these three weren’t just presenters. They were the friends who introduced us to cars. They made us care about machines we could never afford, dream about roads we’d never drive, and, for many of us, buy the project car that would sit unfinished in the driveway for the next decade. Their adventures turned an interest in automobiles into something much bigger—a shared passion, a culture, and a community.
And when the journey ended, millions of us were left asking the same question:
What do you do when the people who taught you to love something finally say goodbye?
For Jeremy Clarkson, the voice that had transformed automotive television wasn’t finished—it had simply found a new field to conquer. Literally. When Clarkson’s Farm premiered in 2021, the premise seemed almost absurd: take one of Britain’s most famous car presenters, give him a farm, and somehow turn agriculture into television. Even the producers seemed skeptical that Clarkson would survive the experience. Yet what began as a potential disaster quickly became one of Amazon’s most unexpected successes.
The question was whether fans who had followed Clarkson from Top Gear to The Grand Tour would care about farming. The answer came quickly: absolutely. The show proved that Clarkson’s appeal was never really about cars—it was about his personality, his curiosity, his spectacular ability to turn ordinary problems into extraordinary disasters, and the people around him. Just as Clarkson seemed to be entering another successful chapter, audiences were reminded that even the larger-than-life figures who have entertained us for decades are still human. Near the end of Clarkson’s Farm Season Five, Clarkson revealed that he had been diagnosed with cancer and would require surgery and treatment. Thankfully, it was reportedly caught early, giving him a much stronger chance of recovery. For fans who had followed him from Top Gear to The Grand Tour and now into the fields of Diddly Squat, the news carried a different weight: the man who had spent decades making us laugh suddenly gave us a reason to worry.
If you haven’t watched Clarkson’s Farm, you’re missing far more than another Clarkson comedy. It delivers the same irreverent entertainment that made Top Gear and The Grand Tour cultural phenomena, but it also pulls back the curtain on an industry most of us rarely see. From farm-to-table production and spiraling costs to livestock, crops, and the realities of running a brewery, the series turns agriculture into something surprisingly personal and accessible.
As it turns out, Clarkson didn’t leave the world of entertainment behind when he left the driver’s seat. He simply discovered that the next great adventure was waiting in a field.

I can’t say I wasn’t aware of the greenwashing that’s going on on the back of the fuel tax credit (FTC) scheme, but it doesn’t hurt keeping up to date with the rorts purpetrated by our mining and extracting industry giants. This tax-payer funded rort, just keeps getting better and better despite the revelations in independent media. Not that our #Labor govt is inclined to stamp it out apparently. Seems like we can do both, meet our paultry emission targets AND pay big poluters to, well… polute some more. How inane is that. This is govt taking the rest of us for #numpties. This BS can’t be allowed to go on. We need #AlboPM to end the FTC schemes at least for big business if he’s not gutsy enough to cut the #Farmers out as well.
“The analysis by Naru Research found the top 18 FTC scheme recipients, mostly multinational iron ore mining and coal companies, collectively received $3.3 billion in credits but only faced an estimated $150 million in compliance costs under the Safeguard Mechanism.
“Australia’s biggest industrial greenhouse gas emitters are being paid to pollute,” stated researcher Tim Baxter.”

Excerpt: "As Takau began looking into dingo laws, she says she found that policy was shaped largely by livestock interests, with little regard for #FirstNations cultural authority. 'There were no Aboriginal people having a say in this animal,' she says.
"In many parts of Australia, dingoes are grouped with 'wild dogs' under biosecurity laws and treated as pests or invasive animals, allowing – and in some places requiring – landholders to kill or exclude them to protect livestock.
"But Takau argues that framing ignores both their cultural significance and their ecological role. 'Dingoes keep Country healthy,' she says; they can control #overgrazing by animals like goats and #kangaroos, and reduce pressure from feral cats and foxes, which prey on #NativeWildlife.
"Through her advocacy, Takau met #AlixLivingstone, founder of #DefendTheWild, and the two began working to centre #Aboriginal voices in #DingoConservation. That work led west, through a #CulturalExchange that brought rangers from #Queensland and northern #NSW together with Aboriginal corporations on WA’s south coast to share dingo monitoring knowledge and cultural stories.
"The film and campaign grew out of that exchange. In February, Moort was screened at WA parliament, where custodians called on the state government to remove dingoes from pest classifications in biosecurity law and phase out 1080 baiting and #strychnine-laced foothold traps, which can cause prolonged, painful deaths.
"Livingstone says the campaign is not about pitting Aboriginal people against farmers but shifting support from killing programs to coexistence measures such as #BetterFencing, #GuardianAnimals and practical help for landholders. 'It’s about finding solutions for farmers that protect their interests but also maintain dingoes in the environment,' she says."
