A worker double checks each row to see that each newly planted grapevine has a cardboard tube. The tube creates a warm, humid environment that accelerates early growth & shields the fragile shoots from wind and pests. When the vine reaches the top, the tube is removed. #WeFeedYou

The hotbeds are blooming new sweet potato plants in Merced County. Each row is around 1/2 mile long and removing the 30lb bags and plastic is exhausting work. But it must be done to let the seedlings breathe. If not, the plant can die from excess heat and moisture. ##WeFeedYou
