The cherry season is happening in firebaugh CA. A group of workers wait—ladders in hand—to begin working .The issue is they are given a time to arrive and then often have to wait a long time to actually start working. They tell us don't get paid for that time. #WeFeedYou

A farm worker in upstate NY shared this pic from where they were harvesting apples on a muddy, rainy day. He shared: When you climb a ladder that's placed on muddy ground, it isn't stable as the ladder can sink deeper into the earth. This makes it more dangerous. #WeFeedYou

"Jesus" shares. "I have been working in agriculture in Salinas CA for 15 years, operating a tractor. Right now, I am removing the irrigation hose after harvesting lettuce hearts. I have to be careful because it gets tangled easily, which is dangerous." #WeFeedYou

"Elena" shares. "The blueberry season began in Arvin, CA and in different parts of the Central Valley. This is how they look freshly harvested. I work 8 hours a day and earn minimum wage." #WeFeedYou

Farm workers are clearing the weeds in the roots of green chile plants in Mettler CA. This is a physically demanding task as they are using a mattock - a heavy duty duel head tool - that's used for digging, chopping and breaking up hard soil and clay. #WeFeedYou

A crew in Mettler CA de-leafs a first year grape vineyard. While most first year grape plants do not yield market quality fruit, getting rid of unwanted growth helped the plant develop faster and stronger for future years. #WeFeedYou

"Maria" works in Arvin CA area. "The work I'm doing in the grapes is hard because we have to do three jobs at the same time. We earn minimum wage. I have to push herself to the limit to support my family." #WeFeedYou

"Julio" is pruning apple trees in WA state. "I spend all day with my arms up holding the heavy pruning shears. It's exhausting work. My arms get so tired they feel numb. I try to shake the numbness out when I switch trees." #WeFeedYou

It was 87° as farm workers hand-thinned a green onion field in Lamont, CA. Workers spent their 8 hour day bent close to the ground pulling excess plants. This labor-intensive work ensures proper plant spacing for a healthy, market-ready harvest. #WeFeedYou

"Maria" shares, I've been picking strawberries in Oxnard CA for the last 15 years. "I'm earning minimum wage. I feel tired, but I keep going so I can cover my weekly expenses. I have a family to feed and house and I need every penny." #WeFeedYou

A worker double checks each row to see that each newly planted grapevine has a cardboard tube. The tube creates a warm, humid environment that accelerates early growth & shields the fragile shoots from wind and pests. When the vine reaches the top, the tube is removed. #WeFeedYou

Sunday is Mother's Day. Elena is a farm worker mother. She shares, "I want to congratulate all the mothers in the world, especially my coworkers, my mother, and all the women who work in the fields and in every line of work. Happy #MothersDay. #WeFeedYou

"Julio" share this video from Madera CA. "We're covering mandarin trees to help stop pests from eating/damaging the crop. This also protects the crop from direct sun. I have a UFW contract and earn $17.89/hour vs min wage. My contract also gives me job protections." #WeFeedYou

Jorge is harvesting blueberries in Delano. We earn minimum wage and if we pick more than eleven 22lb boxes we get a bonus. On warm days it gets extremely hot and humid under the plastic greenhouse where the berries are grown. #WeFeedYou

Two workers in Arvin CA are moving a truck into the field to load it with boxes of Chinese vegetables. "Ian" shares, "Being a loader requires lots of endurance. We must move across several acres of land lifting heavy boxes continuously throughout the day." #WeFeedYou

"Gabriel" shares, "We're thinning nectarines. This job involves removing excess fruit in areas where it grows too densely ensuring that the remaining crop develops in good condition. We work 8 hours a day and are paid minimum wage." #WeFeedYou

"Jose" is picking cherries in the Bakersfield California area earning $6 a 20 lb bucket. "On average in an 8-hour day, if I work hard I can harvest 25 buckets. It's tiring work going up and down ladders to harvest the sweet fruit but it feeds my family." #WeFeedYou

"Maria" is working in the sweet potatoes in Merced county. "The potatoes that were planted in February have started sprouting. This new plant is cut at a precise size so it does not die when it is transplanted. At the end of the day my back & knees ache from the work." #WeFeedYou

Watsonville workers are picking strawberries in the pouring rain. "Julio" shares, "The supervisor told us if we leave wr will no longer have a job. Even though all my clothes are wet and I'm freezing I keep on going as I need this job to support my elderly parents." #WeFeedYou

The hotbeds are blooming new sweet potato plants in Merced County. Each row is around 1/2 mile long and removing the 30lb bags and plastic is exhausting work. But it must be done to let the seedlings breathe. If not, the plant can die from excess heat and moisture. ##WeFeedYou

"Rafa" shared this video from Madera County. "We are removing suckers at the base of the pistachio trees. This way all the nutrients go to the main tree. The job requires constant bending, crouching, and hand cutting. I work 8 hrs/day and make CA minimum wage." #WeFeedYou
