Universe, please make it possible for us to move permanently to #Vermont. It’s so gorgeous here, and with all my liberal-slogan T-shirts, I’d fit in just fine here. ☀️

August 24, 1983, 43 years ago today: I crossed over several knobs along the crest to Peru Peak. This summit, at 3429 feet, was the highest I crossed today, but the peak was heavily wooded.#backpacking #hiking #outdoors #landscapephotography #Vermont #nature #forest #mountains #AppalachianTrail

August 24, 1983, 43 years ago today: A 12:45 start today. I had four major mountains to climb. I would need to average almost two-and-a-half miles per hour, rest stops included, in order to complete this section by dark.#backpacking #hiking #outdoors #landscapephotography #Vermont #mountains #nature #forest #AppalachianTrail

I'll never get tired of tree-lined rivers & creeks along a mountainside, with rocky beds and the sound of rushing water.
This is from the Texas Falls area in Vermont (within the Green Mountain National Forrest).

August 23, 1983, 43 years ago today: The initial four miles were a piece of cake. The Appalachian Trail traversed flat terrain through dense forests. I breezed quickly over that stretch to make some time for later.#backpacking #hiking #outdoors #landscapephotography #Vermont #nature #forest #mountains #AppalachianTrail

August 22, 1983, 43 years ago today: About halfway through the hike, high up on the slope of Glastenbury Mountain, I arrived at Glastenbury Mountain Shelter. A heavy downpour had just concluded, and the sky was brightening considerably as the rain tapered off into a fine mist. The shelter was packed with hikers, including Crazy Charlie and several other thru-hikers.#backpacking #hiking #outdoors #landscapephotography #nature #forest #mountains #Vermont #AppalachianTrail

August 22, 1983, 43 years ago today: August 22, 1983, 43 years ago today: I passed below a power line about two miles into the hike. That is where the first raindrops of the day began to spatter against my face. Soon, I was wearing my rain gear and the rain was coming down steadily. It never completely stopped during the remainder of the hike.#backpacking #hiking #outdoors #landscapephotography #nature #forest #mountains #Vermont #AppalachianTrail

@ascentale @bikenite A8 This is Fisher Bridge near Wolcott, #Vermont. Originally built in 1908, it was a railway bridge that is now part of the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail. The Wikipedia page says it is "now closed" but that is not correct. The trains are long gone but if you're on a bike, it is for you now. #BikeNite

It's another free #TechSupport day at the South Burlington library in #Vermont
1. Patron struggled to create installation media for a laptop running the ARM version of Windows 11 according to MSFT instructions. I went to Lenovo and they had an app for it.
2. Patron was annoyed by weird pop-up ads and notifications on an iPhone. Hopefully fixed by removing some sketchy free games, turning off some notifications, and disabling Live Activities in settings for the Google app.
3. Patron couldn't get their webcam working in Zoom. Turns out their HP laptop had a built-in physical privacy shutter that was closed. 🫣
4. Patron wanted to know how to manage 22,000 photos on iPhone/Mac, advice about flatbed scanners, photo editing, system backups, storage utilization.
