Solitude
Solitude, a simple den,
A piece of paper and a pen,
A cup of tea, a piece of toast.
A window and the holy ghost.
Some calm, a table and a chair;
The mind is free, the soul is bare.
There's Love to make and life to hold.
The ancient tiny thread of gold
That runs through all the joy and gloom
Is found inside this little room. -
Каждый день — это новая возможность начать сначала. Неважно, что было вчера — важно, что ты выберешь сегодня.
Every day is a new opportunity to start over. It doesn't matter what happened yesterday - it's what you choose today.

Don’t Hesitate
"If you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy, don’t hesitate. Give in to it. There are plenty of lives and whole towns destroyed or about to be. We are not wise, and not very often kind. And much can never be redeemed. Still, life has some possibility left. Perhaps this is its way of fighting back, that sometimes something happens better than all the riches or power in the world."

Relaxation Exercises for the Politically Aware

I know the guy became controversial, but on the other hand - should the state government be expected to mark the death of a cartoonist? The article mentions a public memorial service coming up.
"The state government, in its solemn deliberation, has turned away from the notion of a state funeral for my father, Michael Leunig. In every conceivable form, their hand of support has been withdrawn. They have been unwilling to honour or simply acknowledge a soul whose creative vision etched itself deeply into the heart of Melbourne and beyond."

#Leunig, eh? Back in the 70s/80s I thought he was funny, with a whimsical left wing outlook. He clicked well with my depression. I still have some of his early collections. 🤷 Unopened in decades.
He changed. Bitter, unpleasant.
Wikipedia doesn't mention it🤔, but my memory is now of a misogynistic, antivaxxing cooker, waaaayyy too woo. Humorous whimsy forgotten.
Leunig's death is meaningless to me. Once I would have mourned, but the cartoonist I enjoyed left us years ago.
