  1. Abstraction and memory.

    Scraps of cyanotype coated tissue paper - forgotten parts of other works - laid out in up to 6 layers as 'negatives'.

    Sun reveals the constructed image. It reminds me of [ ].

    And you?

    It's a strange creative process.

    Like searching for the memory of something you had forgotten that you remembered.

  2. #January 4, 1801
    #OTD Charles Swain, English #Poet, is born.

    His poem, Forgive & Forget, is a #Keeper.

    #Forgive & #Forget! The #World would be #Lonely,
    The #Garden a #Wilderness left to deform,
    If #Flowers but #Remembered the chilling #Winds only,
    & #Fields gave no #Verdure for fear of the #Storm!

    Then away with the #Cloud from those #Beautiful #Eyes
    That brow is no #Home for such #Frowns to have met:
    Oh! How could our #Spirits ever hope for the #Skies,
    If #Heaven refused to forgive & forget.

  3. Sending you all warm #Wishes for #Peace + #Joy + a very #MerryChristmas.

    To every #Hearth a little #Fire,
    To every #Board a little #Feast,
    To every #Heart a #Joy,
    To every #Child a #Toy,
    #Shelter for #Bird and #Beast.

    He is #Remembered for his #Landmark #Book, The #Anatomy of #Dessert, in which he wrote,

    It is the duty of an apple to be #Crisp + #Crunchable, but a #Pear should have such a
    #Texture as leads to #Silent #Consumption."

  5. Said #Winter, as he strove to frown,

    "#Why do you #Love me young and old?
    The drifting #Snows my forehead #Crown,
    My #Heart is hard, my blood is #Cold."

    "Ah, no!" said both, "We love you well,
    For #Fresh delights #Remembered long;
    Your voice is #Merry as a #Bell,
    & all your accents sound like #Song.
    So #Smile old Winter, smile again,
    You but pretend our #Foe to be;
    You #Warm & #Cheer the #Hearts of men;
    We love you for your jollity."

    - Charles Mackay, #Scottish #Poet, #Happy Winter, Verse One
