Today was a good day. A really good day. It’s been a while since I’ve had one of those.
Four of our family of seven went to the Oregon coast. We ventured over a bay to a peninsula, where we’ve never been. And it was the best choice we could have made.
We visited three beaches and a scenic loop. It was SO beautiful. We brought good food with us, and ate it while looking out over the vast ocean.
Oh, and that’s about as close as I’ve been to a family of deer. There were three of them, foraging on the side of the road.
Good times.

But there are many private, gated beaches on the shores of Alpine lakes, and in other parts of this country I have encountered even paid "strandbaden" - at least, these are accessible if you pay 2€, which is perhaps better then private beaches behind fences and locked gates.
