1/n Notes on #UAP Discussions : Because the subject matter has a long history (and developed its own unique culture here in the U.S ) there are lots of opportunities for confusion regarding overlaps / connections that are evidentially tenuous at best.
Researchers that study #Precognition or other #Psi phenomenologies in the context of #Neuroscience or #Physics don’t generally find that work connects in any way to UAP / NHI . It’s the same for most others trying to understand #NDE’s, #OBE’s and -

1/2 Monday #NoeticSpectrum : I've argued before that once a #Physics approach becomes dominant in studying #Psi phenomenologies the term #Parapsychology no longer fits. In the mean time there are plenty of confusions for laypeople regarding what people mean when they say a thing is "nonphysical" . In physics when we talk of weakly interacting or massless regimes there is some precision.
In most other contexts people will conflate "spirit" and "consciousness" with "nonphysical" The problem... -
1/2 Tuesday #NoeticSpectrum : #Mind and #Brain are not the same thing. This is why #Psi channels in humans are very noisy. Denoising is nontrivial and almost biometric when it comes to individuals. Think fingerprints. Individuals can at best do a single experimental trial at a time. The data won’t generalize to larger populations and there are no proxies. Other than that it’s huge fun if you have the patience...

Less wired, more weird.
I have just finished reading ‘The Science of Magic’ by Dean Radin. This is a book about psi phenomenon (a vast set of topics some of which I have listed below).
I have always found the possibility of the psi being veridical, fascinating…and, as I mature in my own contemplative practices, increasingly compelling.
The mainstream scientific community (at least publicly) decry most psi phenomena as woo. Despite many studies now showing experiences such as Telekinesis and clairvoyance having small but statistically significant effects1. And despite their willingness to embrace the equally woo manifestations of quantum physics (such as entanglement or the weirdness of how our consciousness impacts reality, the so-called observer effect).
Personally, I have differing views on the various topics of psi. Yet I like to keep an open mind on some of the claims I find more fantastical.
How about you?
Tom Morgan over at The Leading Edge, has come up with a quick (4 min) test to help you reflect on your own beliefs around psi:
You can take the ‘How woo are you?’ test here: https://howwooareyou.netlify.app/
Here are my own results.
List of some Psi phenomenon:
- Telepathy: The direct transmission of thoughts, feelings, or images from one mind to another without using words, gestures, or known sensory channels.
- Clairvoyance: The ability to gain information about an object, person, location, or physical event through means other than the known human senses.
- Precognition: The ability to see or experience future events before they happen.
- Remote Viewing: A specific protocolized method of attempting to describe a distant target (location, person, or event).
- Psychometry: The ability to obtain information about an object’s history or the people associated with it merely by touching or holding the object.
- Telekinesis (Psychokinesis – PK): The direct manipulation of matter using only the mind, without any physical interaction.
- Healing: Curing illness or injuries through touch, distance, or intention.
- Near-Death Experiences (NDEs): While primarily a physiological/psychological event, the veridical component (seeing things while clinically dead that could not be seen otherwise) is sometimes analyzed as a form of psi (out-of-body perception).
- Synchronicity: A concept introduced by Carl Jung describing “meaningful coincidences” that seem causally unrelated but are connected by meaning.
- This is assuming of course that the studies are methodologically sound and of high quality (which many seem to be) ↩︎

1/n #Quantum States as #Classical Sensors Dept: For work in #Precognition and #Augmented #Psi there are two generalizations useful for different purposes - The applications fork can be independent of theoretical constraints. In other words you can generate data for quantitative / qualitative corollation without asking what the mechanism is...
In the Foundational fork your looking for the theory - your trying to determine mechanism or some variable dependent on mechanism - encodings, signal... -
Debería documentarlo, no? 😅

🚀 Operando4NeXus Kick-off in Berlin!
The #HMCproject #Operando4NeXus has started. Partners met in #Berlin to align on goals and kick off collaboration.
The project advances #interoperability and #metadata integration in the #NeXus standard, supporting #FAIRdata in photon & neutron science.
Great exchange with @fairmat_nfdi @DAPHNE4NFDI & #SECoP@HMC — metadata is teamwork!
