Hay historias que no sólo buscan informar, sino sembrar desconfianza.

La difundida por CNN sobre una supuesta participación de la CIA en un atentado ocurrido en Tecámac, estado de México, parece encajar más en esa lógica de tensión política y diplomática que en un ejercicio serio de investigación periodística.
Porque detrás de la estridencia mediática y las versiones filtradas, lo que realmente aparece es un intento por golpear la relación bilateral en materia de seguridad entre México y Estados Unidos, justo en un momento en que ambos gobiernos han intensificado la coordinación para enfrentar al crimen organizado transnacional.
La narrativa es delicada: agentes de la CIA ejecutando operaciones letales en territorio mexicano contra presuntos integrantes del narcotráfico.
Francisco Beltrán, alias «El Payín»Una acusación de ese tamaño no sólo impacta en la opinión pública, también amenaza con erosionar la confianza institucional construida en los últimos meses entre ambas naciones.
Por eso fue contundente la reacción del secretario de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana, Omar García Harfuch, quien rechazó categóricamente cualquier insinuación sobre operaciones encubiertas o unilaterales de agencias extranjeras en México.
Y Harfuch no habló al vacío.
Desde el inicio de la actual estrategia bilateral, el titular de la SSPC y el gabinete de seguridad federal han sostenido encuentros permanentes con autoridades estadounidenses para construir mecanismos conjuntos de combate al tráfico de drogas, armas, lavado de dinero y operación de grupos criminales en ambos lados de la frontera.
Ha habido reuniones de alto nivel, intercambio de inteligencia, coordinación operativa y acuerdos específicos para atacar estructuras financieras y logísticas de los cárteles. Todo dentro de un marco institucional y bajo reglas claras de cooperación.
Omar García HarfuchEso explica por qué la versión difundida por CNN provocó incomodidad tanto en México como en Estados Unidos.
La propia CIA salió rápidamente a desmentir la publicación. Su vocera, Liz Lyons, calificó el reporte como “falso y sensacionalista”, e incluso advirtió que este tipo de narrativas terminan favoreciendo a los cárteles.
Y no le falta razón.
Cuando se pretende instalar la idea de que agencias estadounidenses operan clandestinamente en México, lo que se busca es dinamitar políticamente la cooperación bilateral en seguridad, justo cuando ésta comienza a mostrar resultados relevantes.
Basta revisar los recientes decomisos de droga sintética, los aseguramientos de laboratorios clandestinos, las detenciones de objetivos prioritarios y el combate al tráfico ilegal de armas para entender que existe una coordinación activa entre ambos gobiernos.
Pero esa cooperación tiene límites claros: la soberanía mexicana.
Por eso el mensaje de Harfuch fue quirúrgico. Sí a la colaboración; no a la subordinación.
En el fondo, lo que está ocurriendo es una batalla por el control de la narrativa.
Hay sectores —políticos, criminales y mediáticos— a los que no les conviene una relación sólida entre México y Estados Unidos en materia de seguridad.
La razón es simple: cuando ambos gobiernos trabajan coordinadamente, las estructuras criminales pierden margen de maniobra.
Y en tiempos donde la desinformación también es un arma, no parece casual que aparezcan versiones espectaculares justo cuando se fortalecen los operativos binacionales contra el crimen organizado.
La pregunta es quién gana tratando de confrontar a dos gobiernos que hoy, más allá de las diferencias políticas, entendieron que la seguridad regional ya no puede combatirse de manera aislada.

Nos cuentan que el fiscal del estado de México, José Luis Cervantes Martínez, lanzó un posicionamiento firme, directo y sin concesiones contra CNN por la difusión de información relacionada con los hechos ocurridos el pasado 28 de marzo de 2026, donde murieron dos personas.
La Fiscalía General de Justicia del Estado de México rechazó de manera contundente que haya informado a la cadena internacional que “un artefacto explosivo había sido oculto dentro del vehículo”, como se difundió públicamente.
El mensaje no dejó espacio para interpretaciones: la autoridad mexiquense desmintió la versión y defendió la conducción institucional de la investigación.
La postura del fiscal no fue menor. En lugar de optar por una aclaración tibia o diplomática, José Luis Cervantes Martínez decidió confrontar de frente una narrativa mediática que considera incorrecta y anticipada.

La dependencia sostuvo que la investigación continúa en curso y que hasta el momento no existe una conclusión definitiva sobre las causas y circunstancias que provocaron el fallecimiento de las víctimas.
En otras palabras: no hay versión oficial cerrada y cualquier afirmación categórica carece todavía de sustento ministerial.

El titular de la Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana (SSPC), Omar García Haarfuch, rechazó la versión difundida por CNN sobre una presunta participación de la Agencia Central de Inteligencia (CIA, por sus siglas en inglés) en la explosión de una camioneta ocurrida cerca del Aeropuerto Internacional Felipe Ángeles (AIFA).
El hecho dejó dos personas muertas, entre ellas un presunto integrante del Cártel de Sinaloa identificado como “El Payín”. El titular de la SSPC, Omar García Harfuch, sostuvo que el gobierno federal negó cualquier operación extranjera encubierta en territorio mexicano.
El funcionario difundió un mensaje a través de redes sociales en el que afirmó que la cooperación bilateral con Estados Unidos se mantuvo bajo principios de soberanía y responsabilidad compartida. Precisó que las acciones conjuntas entre ambos países se desarrollaron mediante mecanismos institucionales previamente establecidos. También indicó que ninguna agencia extranjera actuó de manera unilateral dentro del país.

La publicación de CNN señala que la explosión ocurrió tras la salida de una camioneta tipo Tacoma de las inmediaciones del AIFA. Según el reportaje, la CIA habría facilitado el ataque mediante un artefacto explosivo colocado dentro del vehículo. La información vinculó a las víctimas con operaciones del Cártel de Sinaloa.
Respuesta oficial
Omar García Harfuch aseguró que el gobierno federal rechazó categóricamente cualquier narrativa relacionada con operaciones letales extranjeras en México. Expuso que las autoridades mexicanas mantuvieron coordinación internacional únicamente en el marco legal vigente. Añadió que la colaboración bilateral permitió resultados relevantes en materia de seguridad regional.
El titular de la SSPC enfatizó que las investigaciones desarrolladas en México correspondieron exclusivamente a instituciones nacionales. Indicó que las autoridades mexicanas conservaron el control operativo y ministerial de cada caso. Reiteró que el respeto a la soberanía representó un eje permanente de la relación bilateral.
La explosión ocurrió el pasado 30 de marzo en las cercanías del Aeropuerto Internacional Felipe Ángeles. El siniestro provocó la muerte de dos hombres vinculados presuntamente al crimen organizado. Las primeras versiones oficiales reportaron un incidente vehicular bajo investigación ministerial.
Investigación abierta
La Fiscalía General del Estado de México informó que mantiene abierta una carpeta de investigación sobre los hechos registrados el 28 de marzo de 2026. La dependencia señaló que hasta el momento no existió una conclusión definitiva sobre las causas exactas de la explosión. También rechazó las afirmaciones relacionadas con un supuesto artefacto explosivo oculto en la unidad.
En un posicionamiento público, la fiscalía mexiquense afirmó que el proceso pericial continuó bajo análisis especializado. Indicó que las diligencias buscaron esclarecer las circunstancias que derivaron en las dos muertes. La dependencia evitó confirmar cualquier hipótesis difundida por medios internacionales.

Colossal Biosciences Is Making Jurassic Park Look Like a Pitch Deck
Modern biotechnology labs are driving advances in gene editing and de-extinction researchDear Cherubs, Dallas has apparently decided extinction is just a product category. Colossal Biosciences is now a billionaire-level biotech spectacle, with the company saying its latest Series C brought total funding to $615 million and ABC News reporting a roster of celebrity backers that includes Tom Brady, Tiger Woods, Paris Hilton and Peter Jackson. Dallas Innovates also reported that the CIA’s venture arm, In-Q-Tel, invested in Colossal back in 2022.
The result is a company that sounds like it was brainstormed by a film studio, a venture fund and a very committed science teacher. Colossal says it is working on de-extinction projects tied to the woolly mammoth, dodo, thylacine and dire wolf, using gene editing, synthetic biology and related conservation tools. So no, this is not literally Jurassic Park; it is more like Jurassic Park after legal review and a lot of grant money.
THE TEA, BUT WITH MICROPIPETTES
In April, Reuters reported that Colossal announced three genetically engineered wolf pups and called them the world’s first successfully “de-extincted” animals, while outside experts were more cautious and described them as genetically modified gray wolves with added dire-wolf traits. ABC News said Colossal edited gray wolf cells at multiple sites and noted the two species are about 99.5% genetically identical, which is a very impressive number and also a reminder that biology is rude and complicated.
That is the key detail the movie version never pauses for: the company is not dusting off a frozen dinosaur and pressing play. It is using ancient DNA, gene editing and surrogate biology to create something that resembles an extinct species closely enough to trigger headlines, debates and a healthy amount of side-eye. The label “de-extincted” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here.
WHY THE MONEY FLOWS
The money makes more sense when you look at the technology stack. Dallas Innovates reported that In-Q-Tel said its interest in Colossal was “less about the mammoths and more about the capability,” while Colossal’s own materials say the work could scale CRISPR, synthetic biology, artificial wombs and genomic preservation platforms. In other words, the extinct-animal angle is the headline; the platform is the business.
Colossal has also built a pop-culture-friendly halo around the science. Its advisory board page lists Tom Brady and George R.R. Martin among its cultural advisors, which is exactly the kind of sentence that makes the internet stop scrolling for a second. That is the trick here: make de-extinction feel part science, part blockbuster, part meme, and suddenly the cap table looks almost inevitable.
The hot take is simple: this is not a cartoonish clone factory, and it is not pure hype either. It is a very expensive attempt to push gene editing, cloning-adjacent methods and reproductive tech into territory that could one day matter for conservation as much as spectacle. The dinosaurs are still fiction, but the lab bills are extremely real.
