I wanted to highlight the instances of horizontal, anarchist, anti-domination movements in Africa when I started writing this article. But this has been amply covered by Sam Mbah (pictured
below) in his book African Anarchism, and would only be an exercise in flaunting my super-cool-look-how-much-of-a-blackanarchist-this-guy-is credentials, etc. etc. There are enough column inches for that another time, because believe, Africa’s past is as vast and as varied as everyone else all over the world and I am known as a treasure trove.What I would like to get into in this article, is the idea that autonomy and community are practiced at every level in society, from the individual to the global and it is the extent we let these attributes.‘
