The proprietor, producing neither by his own labor nor by his implement, and receiving products in exchange for nothing, is either a parasite or a thief.

The individual is quite a world of federations, a whole universe in himself.

It is from the love of humanity that we are revolutionaries: it is not our fault if history has forced on us this distressing necessity.

Relentless tyranny and constant fear of arrest, hated work and endless poverty without any slightest hope of change, untreatable illness that can any minute turn a life into hell and a never ending war that is dragging on and on… I think sooner or later life for the most mere folk in all imperialist fascist countries would end up like this. Who in his mind would willingly choose such a life?

For people sensitive to texture and taste, "just eating fruit" is never that easy. This is one reason why attacking things for being "highly processed" is ableist. Some people need those things.

The present Russian regime and the present order of things can not be called bourgeois -- still less can it be called socialistic or communistic.

So this is an old paper, but I was reviewing some stuff and re-read it just now, and was once again glad that people are doing research like this, and that the results are so lovely. A great antidote to despair about "human nature" is to just look at what kinds of communities kids can actually make for themselves when given a positive framework to work from and actual agency.
https://dl.acm.org/doi/fullHtml/10.1145/3450290
The TL;DR is that the researchers first found that when mods intervene (in a Minecraft server for kids), taking a problem-solving approach rather than invoking authority resulted in ~8x high likelihood of a positive reaction from the person they were interacting with. They then did another study where they built their own server and let kids set up community agreements to govern things (although a mod team of college students was involved too, and the college students set up scenarios for the kids to play each week, it wasn't just free play). As the mods slowly started trusting the kids to govern themselves, they enacted reasonable community agreements to respond to new situations (like "only kill cows during the day" when an area with cows was introduced and some players wanted to farm them while others didn't).

Yes: all men believe and repeat that equality of conditions is identical with equality of rights; that property and robbery are synonymous terms; that every social advantage accorded, or rather usurped, in the name of superior talent or service, is iniquity and extortion. All men in their hearts, I say, bear witness to these truths; they need only to be made to understand it.
-- Pierre-Joseph Proudhon -

I think my basic viewpoint is that everything the left and right say about each other is true. And the reason it's true is because they have so much in common.
