New paper!
Localized oscillatory patterns, observed in many complex systems (neural networks, ecosystems, chemical reactors) have always been thought to need at least 3 species and to arise from Turing instabilities. We show that there is at least one more possible origin, namely Hopf instabilities on subcritical Turing branches, which can occur even with just 2 components.

My Polish language copy of *The Mathematicians' Library* will soon be winging its way to a school in Leicestershire because a maths teacher thought it'd be great for some of their students whose first language is Polish!
This is exactly the kind of use I'd hoped these non-English versions would get, and I have three more left to send (1 *Japanese*, 1 *German*, 1 *Spanish*) - for free (including UK postage) - to anyone who would make similarly good use of them.
