I want to come back to Lennes' letter, which I've covered previously at dotnet.social/@SmartmanApps/11 but that time it was because I had seen it referred to as being evidence for a "new rule" (it wasn't), whereas this time Oliver Knill dotnet.social/@SmartmanApps/11, who I'll come back to next week, is claiming it's evidence of "ambiguity" - not only is it not evidence of that, it's evidence of the complete opposite! So this time round...

  3. My first, favorite and most important sequence, the weights of prime numbers: A117078
We see prime numbers classified by level and by weight on the graph.

    A117078: a(n) is the smallest k such that prime(n+1) = prime(n) + (prime(n) mod k), or 0 if no such k exists ➡️ oeis.org/A117078

  4. "La mathématique [...] fait partie de toute investigation, tant morale que physique. Même les règles de la logique, auxquelles elle est fermement liée, ne pourraient être déduites sans son aide." – Benjamin Peirce (1809–1880)

  5. "Mathematics [...] belongs to every inquiry, moral as well as physical. Even the rules of logic, by which it is rigidly bound, could not be deduced without its aid." – Benjamin Peirce (1809–1880)

  6. After checking out my university's library: Does anybody have some recommendations on books/resources about elliptic curve cryptography and other lattice-based cryptography fields. I would like to better understand the maths behind it but am happy to have real life examples/guides/best practices included?

Language can be english, german, or italian.
I do study comp sci so my mathematical training is OKish at best, but I want to learn. :BoostOK:

  8. "I enjoy being surprised by mathematics and its intrinsic difficulty. The moment I enjoy best is when the pieces of the puzzle fall into one coherent whole. Understanding or solving a problem is a real source of joy." – Katrin Wendland (1970–)

  9. "J'aime être surprise par les mathématiques et leur difficulté intrinsèque. Le moment que j'apprécie le plus est quand les pièces du puzzle s'assemblent en un tout cohérent. Comprendre ou résoudre un problème est une véritable source de joie." – Katrin Wendland (1970–)
