Hallo Fediverse, ich habe da mal eine Frage zu XMPP und Gruppen. Ich habe eine Gruppe erstellt und es gibt dort das Problem, dass scheinbar der OMEMO Schlüssel nicht an alle Teilnehmer verteilt wird. Zwar schon an die Meisten User allerdings gibt es den einen oder anderen, der den Schlüssel für diese Gruppe nicht empfangen hat. Bei dem betroffenen User erscheint dann in der übermittelten Nachricht nur Folgendes:
Diese Nachricht wurde mit OMEMO verschlüsselt und konnte nicht entschlüsselt werden.

Gibt es da für mich als Admin der Gruppe irgendeine Einstellung oder sonst irgendwas, was ich machen kann?

There now is even a debian backport version for emacs-jabber (aka jabber.el) - including omemo support:

Me pregunto hasta qué punto es problema de Kaidan, que usa la versión 0.8.3 del XEP (OMEMO2) y no de que la gran mayoría de clientes se hayan quedado en la versión 0.3.0 (asumo que para mantener compatibilidad con Conversations).

this is basically the same story I've heard everywhere omemo is used: it's extremely hostile towards anyone who wants to back up their messages. forgetful? have multiple computers? fuck you I guess.

I like XMPP overall but I'm going to be telling all my friends "oh yeah turn that off for any message you don't want to lose forever"

Does anyone know if there's a #python library that allows to create a #xmpp bot using #omemo encryption?

All the libraries that I tested only seemed to support unencrypted messaging.

@lexinova Sounds a bit like #xmpp or #jabber no? Not an expert, but I think anyone can host a server and also connect those together, to transfer messages from one to another, and #omemo enables async message delivery.

I admin an #OpenFire #XMPP server for example. In the case of this chat program, it has end to end encryption. When I connect with someone (that doesn't necessarily mean another person on our server), we activate #OMEMO #encryption. Even on the server side with admin access, I can NOT see the conversation.

I work with a local newspaper that is Google fanatics. It absolutely pisses me off they use it to store my info like my SSN and I'm always seeing reports that the US Government is given access to that data.

Edward Snowden should be hailed a hero for giving up his citizenship to tell the truth. His book, Permant Record should be read by everyone.
