This is extraordinary: #SafeguardGlobal, which technically employs #WikimediaFoundation employees in the UK on behalf of #WMF, has requested, *after* the 20-day negotiation period, to exclude WMF UK managers from the bargaining unit.

In other words, #SG on behalf of #WMF *managers*, wants to exclude WMF UK *managers* from being protected by #WikiWorkersUnitedUK. The justification is to lower from UK to US standards [1].

If you agree with that #WikimediaFoundation worker, and you haven't yet signed the #WWU support statement, then consider signing it [1]. AFAIK, there has still been no apology by the #WMF executive for the abrupt May 2026 lay-offs of #WMF staff [2]. It's probably fair to summarise WMF executive statements about the lay-offs in this worker's words: "we (WMF) consider the abrupt lay-offs as the appropriate use of management tools".

Since a kid, I always loved encyclopediæ. So #Wikipedia is one of my favorite project (my account's first contribution dates back from 2006!). Libre Knowledge! Wouhou! 🤓

It appears that several WMF managers have failed to abide by Wikimedia values: the behaviour described in [1] would not be tolerated on a Wikimedia wiki. Anyone behaving that way would be asked to cease their disruptive behaviour, and if unwilling or unable to cease, would be blocked or banned.
