  4. #WikimediaFoundation, which declares its respect for #WMF staff #unionisation rights, is being dragged kicking and screaming, even with a mediator involved, into recognising #WikiWorkersUnited #WWU UK:

  7. “I support Wiki Workers United because I believe that strong worker protections will allow us to meet the external challenges we face. By stabilizing our contracts and policies, and allowing for open dialogue within the workplace, we no longer have to function in fear in our day to day, but can focus on meeting the moment and ensuring we are doing everything we can to support free knowledge.” – Wikimedia worker, name withheld

  11. The increasingly undeniable union-busting efforts that the Wikimedia Foundation has recently been pursuing in avoidance of its employees' request for recognition of their union, supported by nearly 80% of eligible workers, are making me very uncomfortable, and I'd even be ashamed to be a Wikimedian at this point, if it weren't for the massive outpouring of community support for the #WikiWorkersUnited. @JakeOrlowitz once more puts things in clear and eloquent words: medium.com/regarding-wikipedia

  12. This union-busting disaster at the WMF make me want to candidate for the Board of Trustees with a very strong and very openly pro-union program ✊ #wwu #SupportWikiUnion #WikiWorkersUnited

  13. #Metaphors for the #WikimediaFoundation hiring of #UnionBusting firm #LittlerMendelson against #WikiWorkersUnited [1] are flowing thick and fast [2].

"You say, 'I don't view unionization at WMF as an adversarial process... why would I want otherwise?', ... It is rather like deploying an anti-tank missile launcher pointed at protesters and then claiming that it is merely being used to transport people to the protest grounds."

  14. “WMF knows that its staff are passionate about the community-run projects they work to support, and management takes advantage of this to cut corners on equity on pay/benefits—especially outside the US—and […] making sure people feel safe to give feedback.” - WMF worker, name withheld
