  3. These were top of the ticket candidates.

The new screening chair gave them the grace to be considered despite their lack of engagement. The body voted to endorse them, but this was a wakeup call.

  4. We are done.

We considered one hundred candidates. In most cases, the body accepted the recommendations of the screeners.

The takeaway is that candidates who don't engage with us cannot expect to earn our endorsement.

Some candidates who earned our endorsement in the primary failed to respond when asked whether they wanted to re-screen or be considered with the questionnaire and scores from the primary. They had three chances and didn't respond.

  5. Good morning / afternoon / evening!

    I am at the #Endorsement #meeting for our local #lgbtq+ #caucus.

Right now, a mile-long line of #candidates are getting 30 seconds to speak. We started at the top of the hour.

I served on the #screening #committee. The committee screened over 100 candidates.

When the proceedings open, the first motion will be to close credentialing. The second will be to accept the #recommendations of our committee.

  15. THIS !! This is what we humans should be focusing on, researching cures for cancer, not waging illegal wars using freaking sea drones. Nobody needs that 💩

    Screw drones!

Honestly, all of the planet's resources are wasted on doing evil instead of doing good. We need to stop this nonsense, or it will stop us.

  18. A Run and an Open Air Film Screening

    Reading Time: < 1 minute

Yesterday I went to Gland for a mid-afternoon run before watching Disclosure Day at an outdoor cinema. The run route took me along the Toblerones up to Vich, and then I turned East and ran along a road I often cycle along, before then heading back down, over the motorway, and then over the railway line, back to Gland, and then back to the field where the film screening was taking place.

The temperature is lower, so such a run is more pleasant than it would have been a few days ago but by the end I was happy to stop, and recover. I drank 600ml of eletrolytes and sat in the shade to recover. The run was around 7.7km.

Disclosure Day is a new film, by Steven Spielberg. It’s interesting to see how auteur style has changed. I don’t know whether such a film is wise at this moment in time.

In the era of Brexit and other absurd events the idea that a film would put forward a “conspiracy” feels tactless and dangerous. In the era of disinformation a film such as this fans the flames of conspiracy theorists, at the cost of fact based journalism and current affairs.

The footage isn’t fact checked, the context isn’t looked up. Footage is leaked without documentation related to the footage being sourced and it shows how fragile certain news systems are.

I see the final scene and it makes me realise how much I miss working in broadcasting. At the same time it alarms me to see how everyone is watching the “news” on their phones as a mass audience.

I worry that people will watch this film of science fiction and it will encourage them to absorb and accept conspiracy theories without proper fact checking.

  28. 'Artsen zetten vraagtekens bij nut van bevolkingsonderzoek naar kanker. ‘Niet de doorbraak waarop we hoopten’

"hoogleraar radiologie Willem Mali.

  29. aemi & IFI present: TRANCE FILMS

Irish Film Institute (IFI), Tuesday, June 30 at 06:30 PM GMT+1

aemi presents a very special international programme of experimental ‘trance films’.

The films selected here bypass comprehension, these are works that are experienced first and understood later (if at all). In his notes on Austrian filmmaker Jung an Tagen’s A Flock of Rotations Christian Höller describes how ‘there is no boundary here, no outside, no escape’ and this applies across a selection of films that take us from an explicitly digital realm to the far more earthly realm of the Atacama Desert in Daïchi Saïto’s EARTHEARTHEARTH (screening here in a beautiful 35mm print). As Alejandro Bachmann notes in relation to Happy Doom ‘the boundaries between inside and outside, me and the world, the virtual and the material, all become permeable, ambiguous, irrelevant’. A perfect descriptor for a programme that skirts the outer realm of psychedelia and cinema.

The screening includes two works screening from 35mm prints, both courtesy of Light Cone.

    FILM INFO:

A Flock of Rotations, Jung an Tagen, 2026, Austria, 11 mins
Fuddy Duddy, Siegfried A. Fruhauf, 2016, Austria, 5 mins
    Happy Doom,Billy Roisz, 2023, Austria, 3 mins
Ville Maria, Alexandre Larose, 2006-2009, Canada, 12 mins
EARTHEARTHEARTH, Daïchi Saïto, 2021, Japan, 30 mins

    Total running time: 61 minutes

A Flock of Rotations – Jung an Tagen

Continuously falling pitches – descending into infinity.

Fuddy Duddy – Siegfried A. Fruhauf

In Siegfried A. Fruhauf´s Fuddy Duddy, something resembling a big bang is seen, with an energy resulting from the struggle between order and chaos. Everything we see takes place within a linear force field – whatever happens in the black and white images that arise from invisible sources of artistic creativity, whatever reveals its presence the instant it disappears. The lines themselves begin to flicker. It is as if they emerge from lidless eyes – were it only possible – yet they do not give way. The crucial grid underlying classical aesthetics of harmony and measurement begins to glow, but it does not go up in flames- Bert Rebhandl

    Happy Doom – Billy Roisz

HAPPY DOOM is an audiovisual poem, an ode to color intoxication and vertigo. The screen a vibrating membrane that simultaneously spits and swallows colors and noisy beats – a hypnotic deformed circumpolar psychedelic short trip.

    Ville Maria – Alexandre Larose

This film is inspired from a dream during which I fall from the top of a high-rise building facing the sky- Alexandre Larose

    EARTHEARTHEARTH – Daïchi Saïto

Dawn breaks where land is flesh
    And bones’ echoes;
    You’ve lived through extinctions –
    Stars, skies, sand and seas;
Future is catching us up at last,
And all the dead are ahead of us.

A major film from a singular artist, earthearthearth is a pulsing, painterly tour de force. – Michael Sicinski
