iMazing 3.6 lets you add music to any iPod made before the touch, including: classic, mini and nano.
- Free on macOS and Windows
- No iTunes, no Finder, and no syncing that wipes anything not in your computer’s library
- Apple’s firmware stays in place, so the click wheel and accessories work as before. If you want different firmware, Rockbox is still the way.Probably our oldest feature request. TuneAid, our first product, pulled music off every iPod ever made. Adding music back was the missing half.

Back in 1999, Venetian producer Cristiano Spiller released an instrumental track called Groovejet, presumably so-called because it features a prominent "jet effect" at various points.
The distinct sound of a close passing jet comes from the varying time delay between the waves we hear directly from the engines and those reflected off the ground, plus of course Doppler shift. Early digital decks like the classic Pioneer CDJ-100S encouraged the use of the same phase difference technique as an effect in music.
The following year, a vocal version of Groovejet became an international hit. From what I recall, the singer was largely uncredited and indeed unknown at the time: Sophie Ellis-Bextor. It wasn't until 2001 that she released her breakthrough singles Take Me Home and Murder on the Dancefloor.
Groovejet also has a unique place in tech history, as Steven Levy recalled in a 2006 article for Wired: "In August [2001], the team [developing the iPod at Apple] finally got one of the physical prototypes to play a song. A group of people working late at night took turns listening on a set of headphones from someone's old Sony Walkman. That first song, by the way, was Spiller's 'Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)'."

I use my #hiby R1 as my main music player. And my #ipod classic as my secondary one. In the first year the Hiby corrupted the microSD 4 times as I copied music on it. Means I had to reformat the card and copy all of the music onto it.
On the other hand the iPod has a 256GB microSD mod and it let me exactly 0 times down. 🙃 This iPod is ca. 20 years old and still much stable than this modern counterpart.

Apples support for iPods is incredible. This #iPod mini (128GB upgraded) released in early 2005. It's support ranges from #OSX 10.2 Jaguar up until today with MacOS.
And it syncs and plays modern format like Apple Lossless (ALAC) and AAC 320kbit on it's original firmware. Though the Apple Music app on modern #MacOS seems to lack the feature to remove songs so I used the #Powerbook for music management via #iTunes instead.

In our #gig on last friday I barely heard the others on stage. There was a monitor next to me but it was blasting the sound to my ankles. And I made a big mistake but who cares. Anyhow, for the next gig I’ll bring a small #mixer to mix clicktrack and the others into my #iem
And also I’m so tempted to put the pure clicktracks onto my old #ipod classic and use it live instead my pricey Mac laying the whole night in a dark corner in my backpack. Reducing stuff to carry, reducing money put on risk 🤔 -

i really wish there was an #apple product that's small n lightweight but comes with GPS and esim support for a more reliable, all-time tracking - even if it means regularly needing a charge (i.e. daily at least, hopefully). i know my intention is for pets, but for parents too so they don't need to rely on #airtag which isn't the most reliable if there aren't any #iphone laying nearby to ping the airtag's location. if airtags cld have their location pinged by #android devices too, that may make it more helpful - but even then, not exactly enough for what i want. as of rn, the only way to have this is thru an iphone, cos even #ipod when they still existed didn't have the option for esims.
unless... would a cellular #AppleWatch be a viable option?
edit: lmao i guess i just thought of the solution while writing this post - apple watch with cellular may indeed be the solution, just gotta find a 'loop' case for it that can be attached to a pet collar or a bag or wtv like i currently have for airtags.
