The garage roof is made of acoustically reflective metal sheets, so we played vv quietly.
Harmonies are triggered via Emma’s vocal pedal.
Sometimes, harmonies were added later.
In situations where the pedal wasn’t able to correctly follow harmonic modulations.

We’re again at #JaneAustenJuly. This year, I’ll be (re)reading Emma and the non-fiction A Portrait of Jane Austen by David Cecil, published in 1978, that some dear friends gift me recently from their visit to Hay-on-Wye (yes, the Book Town).

We had an Italian AI called Emma-5. Yesterday, for 24 hours only, then they shut her down because she wasn’t ready, she was giving wrong and completely crazy answers.
Someone asked her how many R’s are in the word “ramarro“.
She answered: “About 50 per day, correlated to population variability and age“.
Someone asked her how much a kilo of apples weighs: “385 grams. An adult weighs 180 kg and that if you eat all the apples you won’t even have enough for a coffee“.
She had her own logic, completely mad, she got nothing right, but we already miss her.
She made me think about how AI is being used in the wrong way and how we are slaves of algorithms. Every time I open Instagram I see another reel with the hook “You’ve been doing this wrong…” or the carousel with 5 tips for doing this or that, written exactly like the one from yesterday.ALL THE SAME. ALL ON TREND.
Or maybe not? Who is the démodé1 one here?
Me, making 80s music and posting whenever and whatever I want, or is it démodé to make a post that’s already consumed, already seen, already digested and already forgotten?
The ironic thing is that trying to keep up has become the easiest way to be invisible.- “Démodé” is a French word borrowed into the Italian vocabulary. We’ll give it back soon as soon as you return the Mona Lisa (just kidding).
