TITLE: This 800-year-old Chinese exercise helps lower blood pressure naturally

    URL: sciencedaily.com/releases/2026

An ancient Chinese exercise routine may be just as powerful as a daily brisk walk for lowering blood pressure — without equipment, gyms, or intense workouts. In a major clinical trial, adults with stage 1 hypertension who practiced baduanjin, a gentle mind-body exercise combining slow movements, breathing, and meditation, saw meaningful drops in blood pressure within three months that lasted for an entire year.

  13. In other news

I think I'm making sense in my head of the blood pressure readings that the machine produced yesterday - although I'm not sure the GP will follow my logic.
I'm as sure as I can be (as a non-expert) that I haven't got bog-standard hypertension, but that my blood pressure goes up disproportionately during exercise. This may be why I take so long to recover from even modest exercise.
It's also dissappointing that the monitor didn't cover late night & early morning when I think my BP is highest.

I imagine I'll be hearing from the doctor in the next few days.

  14. So I've got this blood pressure monitor on my arm.
It was supposed to be a 24 hour monitor according to the GP but the pharmacy are happy for me to take it back at 5:30 this afternoon - 24 hours or 6½ hours, not much difference really?
Having said that, I'd probably rip it off and nuke it if it were on overnight. It's inflating about every 10 minutes, although it occasionally seems to be random.
    In summary: it's ferkin' annoying.
