We’ve been doing more rural rides than biking into town lately. But current weather’s heat wave + steep hills of our rural routes led us to opt for biking into town yesterday instead, so we could cool off on the coastal trail. Well, that was a first: Bumped into by a guy who was walking on the beach while looking down at and completely absorbed by his phone. No harm done.
And certainly took nothing away from our pleasure of walking the beach on this warm evening.

We did two nice road bike rides over the weekend, one on Saturday toward the northern end of the Monterey Bay and the second on Sunday at the southern end. I’m always amazed on a clear day when one can see across the bay how big it is. These photo’s don’t capture what it’s like to see.
It’s apparently one of the largest bays in the world. About 25 miles across and around 60 miles around by car. One source said 90 miles which may be measured along the shoreline with the zig zag small coves and points along the way.
