I like this fish, but it shouldn’t be here, even during the summer 🤔 This section of Darby Creek is full of Redbreast Sunfish and occasionally Bluegills, but not Green Sunfish. The water is unusually warm right now 🤔

I screwed up my morning fishing expedition, so I took a little time to do fishing during my afternoon hike. This guy took a rather large elk hair bug on the surface. I can't believe it was able to swallow the whole thing.

Last night I went to check out Sweetwater Creek State Park. It is a little too far away to visit multiple times a week. I caught a couple of brilliant Red Breast Sunfish and a small Shoal Bass.
Tonight, I went to a familiar swamp, and the fishing was hot. I caught 5 different kinds of sunfish and totally lost track of the number of fish. Caught all of them on a size 12 wet fly with my 4 weight rod.

On June 3rd a 7.3-foot (221cm) hoodwinker sunfish washed ashore on Gearhart beach, just north of Seaside, Oregon. ...It wasn’t long before news of this fish reached Mariann Nyegaard, a researcher based in New Zealand. The photographs she saw indicated that this might not be a run of the mill ocean sunfish (Mola mola) but a different species that she was very familiar with, the hoodwinker sunfish (Mola tecta). "
