#Monterey Peninsula just got a #redflagwarning. We lived through the brown skies of the Soberanes fire, and didn't get a red flag warning even then. And the Timber fire (granted it's about 23k acres now, and a new fire to the south (Plaskett fire) is some 40 mi. away. Now we're supposed to keep our go-bags handy because 20% possibility of lightning strikes as well. Yikes.

It's very foggy at our house in #Monterey #California this morning.

We did a favorite road bike ride yesterday.

The map shows the 26 mile round trip road bike route from Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey CA to Pebble Beach and back. Most of the ride is along the coast. As usual, it was overcast with a light wind. One gets used to overcast and wind when riding pretty much anywhere within Santa Cruz and Monterey along the bay.

Fisherman’s Wharf is a good place to start since there is usually plenty of parking and the parking rate is reasonable.

The Lone Cypress is a mile or two up 17 Mile Drive between the bottom 180 turn on the map and the Pebble Beach resort, our turn-around point.

Aw, shucks. Except for all the passenger planes flying over my house bringing in rich tourists (and "air attack" fire-fighting airplanes heading to the Timber Fire), and souped-up pseudo race cars gunning it up the hill where I live, I entirely missed Monterey's Car Week! 😜

Damn. There's an 800 acre #wildfire in Big Sur in rough terrain with a ton of tree fuel, and very difficult to access. This is near Nepenthe, Julia Pfeiffer Sur park, and the Henry Miller Library. Evacuations in progress. #Monterey #carweek

As #Monterey #CarWeek is coming up, the residents of Seaside CA (a city in the Monterey metro area) is asking their police department to hassle loud cars out of their city. They really, really hate the amount of cars that descend into what is otherwise a quiet coastal town every year.

My fellow car enthusiast friend put it this way: Imagine there’s a week-long tuba festival that comes into your town every year. During that week, thousands of people play the tuba on the streets all day, and late into the night. Would you like that?

Can’t really argue with that argument.

Last night I had the 2011 #macbook pro running #MacOSXsnowleopard side by side next to the 2013 macbook pro running #Monterey. It was crazy seeing how much has changed but also how much stayed the same.

I like the #QOL improvements that #Apple has made to their OS (not including #MacOS26Tahoe) but I do miss the older #skeuomorphic and stylings of the earlier #OSX; it just had more character.
