Because it was so much fun the day before, this time I went again with the Pilatus PC-12. From the Pacific coast, I headed inland, flying along the western edge of the Central Valley. On the way to San Francisco, I passed over the Bay and the Salt Ponds, which still shimmer in stunning colors.

First Night Monterey "does not provide valet parking. The FNM footprint is closed to all vehicular traffic, including bicycles (except when walked) and dogs. If you choose to ride your bicycle, there is bicycle parking near the shuttle bus stop at Del Monte Center. There are also bicycle racks located throughout downtown Monterey along Alvarado Street - and including larger racks at the Sports Center…” [remainder of FNM web page info about bike parking isn’t entirely accurate].

We biked to #Seaside last eve, passing through North Monterey. En route, we used alternate route (not Monterey’s North Fremont Street center bike lanes). On return trip, we used that center bikeway, to see if the most recent collision’s debris, which we reported 9/9 and again 9/19, had been cleaned up yet. Verdict: mostly (use caution to avoid tire puncture).

Their ED at that time himself biked to work! Why is that detailed map no longer in our guide? Our favorite sort of visitors are people who (if able) bike, walk, skate, scoot, or use public transportation. We met two such #Monterey County visitors on 10 Feb 2024: this couple from #Fresno who'd rented #bicycles to enjoy #cycling along the #PacificGrove shoreline and elsewhere. They were grooving on the sunshine after all the recent rains!
