This weekend was the Palo Alto Festival of the Arts. The event took place downtown on a long stretch of University Avenue. The width and alignment of University ensured that everyone spent some time in the sun. 🥵
This was a large art venue but oddly did not have much entertainment. Most similar events are anchored around a large concert and dancing area with a loud rock band. This one just had a small stage on a sidestreet playing folk music.

Last week I learned that the city slogan of Colma, in the San Francisco Bay Area, is “It’s Great to Be Alive in Colma.”
For those unfamilar with Colma, it’s a cemetery town. Learning about the slogan made me LOL.

If anyone is looking for a job based out of Belmont, CA, my brother’s elevator construction company is hiring. It’s not much money to start with but I know things are rough with jobs out there so if this helps anyone… it has benefits so that’s something.

“The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a resolution Tuesday to regulate commercial humanoid robots. The new requirements include including permits, emergency kill switches, fire safety measures and tracking of possible job displacement.”
It’s a pretty good start. Kudos to Supervisor Ray Mueller for getting ahead of the game.

It looks like USGS recorded and located 1 foreshock and 4 aftershocks related to yesterday's M3.8 in San Leandro.

One important thing I learned about earthquakes is that duration correlates with severity, so if you can feel it and realize that it’s an earthquake, it’s reasonable to get to cover because if it’s severe, it’ll keep going. I don’t know if this is a hard seismological fact, but it’s certainly what I’ve observed in 24 years living in an earthquake zone #sfba #earthquake
