'01 Private Reserve is stuffed but balanced, with beautiful fruit and some grip still on the finish. Tasted next to 01 Schrader, I preferred this, even though I brought Schrader. ๐
The styles of this and the Schrader were very different, Schrader showing more finesse, this more depth. And beautifully balanced, opulence tamped down a bit thanks to age, perfectly integrated.
Overall, this super CabSauv is holding brilliantly. 14.2% alc. New vintages, about $175

The '01 Beckstoffer from Schrader is an elegant Cab with finesse, silky texture and lifted fruit. Tasted next to a Beringer Private Reserve 01, this was leaner, but perhaps livelier and with subtler concentration. I confess to liking the Beringer a bit better, but this is no slouch, as it is beautifully crafted
14.8% alcohol. I don't know what this older bottle might go for, but new vintages are likely $300+. Yeah, it's a trophy. Not buying, not throwing away!
