'01 Private Reserve is stuffed but balanced, with beautiful fruit and some grip still on the finish. Tasted next to 01 Schrader, I preferred this, even though I brought Schrader. 😄
The styles of this and the Schrader were very different, Schrader showing more finesse, this more depth. And beautifully balanced, opulence tamped down a bit thanks to age, perfectly integrated.
Overall, this super CabSauv is holding brilliantly. 14.2% alc. New vintages, about $175

Tasted next to a Beringer Private Reserve 01, this was leaner, but perhaps livelier and with subtler concentration. I confess to liking the Beringer a bit better, but this is no slouch, as it is beautifully crafted
14.8% alcohol. I don't know what this older bottle might go for, but new vintages are likely $300+. Yeah, it's a trophy. Not buying, not throwing away!

Tasty, but also increasingly nuanced and complex at this point in its life, this might be its best showing for me. No rush drinking them. Plenty of life left.👉👉Yes, threw a lot of sediment! See full pic
🍷🍷I am a bit into Napa the last couple of weeks, but this wasn't drunk with the others, so I'll post the others in due course separately, including mature Morlet, Beringer, Schrader.
$100+ these days, but it wasn't back then.
