Schön das diesen armen Tieren geholfen wird. Das ist aber auch wieder wieder mal ein Beispiel dafür das wir endlich damit aufhören müssen Tier zu unserem Spaß und zu Unterhaltung einzusperren und zu benutzen.
Aus allen anderen Gründen selbstverständlich auch.

Man sollte alle diese Einrichtungen schließen, die Tiere auswildern und bei denen es nicht möglich ist ihnen ein würdiges und so gutes Leben ermöglichen wie es möglich ist.

💁🏻‍♀️ TIL: 🦈✈️ On August 16, 2026, #NewEngland #Aquarium scientists flying over the Northeast Canyons and Seamounts Marine National Monument logged more than 2,000 #animals across 15 species southeast of #CapeCod.

The count included 11 #whale #sharks, some 1,800 #dolphins, an endangered #spermwhale, and a #humpback. Researchers called the #diversity a marker of #habitat value, noting recent #policy changes now allow commercial #fishing there.

Et pour y couler de la résine transparente ! C'est la 1ere fois que j'utilisais de la résine, j'appréhendais un peu parce que j'avais pas trop trop le droit à l'erreur pour cette 1ere fois...

Donc j'ai commencé par badigeonner de résine le trou et les poissons, puis j'ai rempli le fond en y plaçant les poissons.

Le gros poisson tenait tout seul, mais j'ai dû usé d'une ruse pour placer le petit poisson à base de carton et d'une aiguille.
Il faisait froid chez moi, donc ça a mis du temps pour se solidifier un peu.

Ce matin, je me suis réveillée et j'étais ravie ! C'était tout beau et ça tenait bien en place, yeah ! C'est parti pour la couche finale !

Je fais mes préparatifs, je verse dans le trou, il y a quelques bulles, mais j'arrive à les enlever.
Je couvre pour protéger, et j'ai envie de regarder à quoi ça ressemble 15min après. J'ai bien fait parce qu'il y a eu plein de petites bulles qui se sont formées !

Pas de panique, j'utilise le décapeur thermique en restant à distance pour les faire éclater. Mais ça marchait pas et il y avait encore plus de bulles 😭
C'était un peu la panique ! Je prends une petite aiguille à coudre pour les percer et les évacuer. Et là je me rends compte que la surface a commencé à se solidifier avec les bulles 😬
Alors j'ai commencé à enlever des morceaux de résine toute molle, c'était la catastrophe, ça ne faisait qu'empirer 😱

Bon, j'ai arrêté le désastre, j'ai accepté qu'il y ait des bulles, et puis finalement ça rend ok. La surface n'est pas aussi lisse que ce que j'imaginais, il y a quelques bulles si on regarde bien, mais c'est quand même réussi.

Et voilà ! J'ai un petit aquarium terrestre maintenant !!!!

I have in past years seen standing water in the woods at a local national rec area and on at least one occasion I have seen daphnia there. A couple or three weeks ago, I stopped by to collect leaf litter from that spot for my aquarium. It was dry at the time, but it was clearly a seasonal beaver situation.

I had hoped to pick up some invertebrate eggs, and it looks like it has paid off.

#carbonActivado tanslates in german into #AktivKohle, that's the stuff you find in high quality filters, including filters for #fishTank's, #aquarium's and filres for drinking water as they have the capabilty to filter out all kind of chemicals from air and water. That's the same effect that carbon creates by storing chemical elements in it's space and structure in the soil for #plants and #microorganisms.

Creating carbon from wood by explosively cooling it down throwing it into water, transforming it into "active carbon" resolves the arduous task of creating carbon in an anaerobic setup, an interesting point because we could come up with some kind of #rocketStove with a continious feeding process, seperating glowing carbon from the rest, letting it somehow roll into a water recipient while using the heat created to warm up our houses in the winter. As of now not solved in this idea is what to do with the water steam that is produced, or even to think about some secondery use for that steam. These "ideas/considerations" are actually the result of:
* There is no waste, only primary materials
* Every element in a system has to fulfill at least two goals

What we couldn't find out into deep till now is a the issue that apparently carbon can be #hydrophobe or #hydrophilic and which process makes it hydrophillic. We guess that this is in part an important detail as the carbon harbors not only chemical elements but also is a kind of apartment building for microorganisms and their are probably different apartments for aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms.
Perhaps in the case of your soil some hydrophobic carbon could be even the better option.

Our question about the kind of soil, in part depending of the region you are from, is due to the observations that carbon to create terra preta is very usefull for old leached soils like those of the #Amazon basin, #SouthAmerica and #Africa in particular, as well as probably for example the sandy soils of #Brandenburg and #Mecklenburg-Vorpommern or regions of Spain, while the benefits in soils like Hessen, Western Germany in general and most likely the whole of central europe aren't that extraordinary, even tho they are most likely always beneficial.

In fact, she’s *so* passionate about it that she’s posted five or more long articles a day about it, 7 days a week, for *years*! Gosh, what passion! Why, one could say it’s almost *inhuman*! 🙄

And yet that’s one of the better sites, in that much of its suggestions and info here seem pretty accurate… but the point is that it’s entirely impossible to be sure unless you already know a fair amount on the subject.

In contrast, forum posts may be from people with a wide range of experiences and knowledge, but at least they’re *people* trying to provide genuine answers/anecdotes, usually in good faith.

The aquarium/fishkeeping web has been absolutely *destroyed* by LLMs. It was full of SEO spam previously, but now it’s practically impossible to find semi-trustworthy information.

Example: I poked around for info about tankmates that are reasonably safe to keep alongside South American cichlids such as flag cichlids. Most results were obviously LLM-generated given the recognizable writing style.

The danger is that these pages were *mostly* correct, but also contained a lot of dubious info. LLMs are doing the exact opposite of what they purport to do: by displacing more reliable info with less reliable info that’s conveyed with faux confidence, they’re making the web essentially useless as an information source.

(Which is quite a feat, considering it was full of dubious info to begin with!)
