In about a month, I'll be looking at buying an #eBike. I'm told fedi has a strong ebike community, so I'd appreciate advice.

• I'll have a budget of around £600.
• I'd like to buy second hand.
• The longest distance I expect to ride is about 12 miles.
• I need a removable battery.
• I want to be able to add panniers.

We got our #ebike in 2017; it was new in photo below. It's a Type 1 (no throttle, requires pedaling, top assisted speed 20 mph).

Sadly it's battery life is over, and 3 local shops + online resources said that for this bike, the only available batt wouldn't be satisfactory, on top of being too costly for value of the bike.

So our only bike at present is a 20 yr old $150 (when new) Giant hybrid that was formerly our daughter's bike. We obvs need a new bike badly! People probly assume we have 1 or more very nice bikes. Unfortunately not the case! And we imagine we're among MANY volunteer bike advocates who yearn for 1 of the cool bikes we see some folks riding!
