Hmm, weird bug in #KDE suddenly left me without main screen on my laptop with #KDEneon. Attaching an external screen made it possible to work around.
Apparently a wider KDE issue, not only KDE neon, since this post on reddit describes the same for Fedora: https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/1d9it4z/black_screen_after_kde_plasma_login_solution/
Although, I was not mirroring my screen.Deleting the json and then `killall ...` command described worked for me, but only after then restarting my laptop WITHOUT the external screen attached.

Esta configuración se quedó. KDE Neon con Plasma 6.7.3. La unión de panel vertical a la izquierda y Firefox con la barra de pestañas de solo iconos a la derecha queda divinamente. También he quitado la barra de marcadores, así que tengo mucho espacio al navegar tanto en vertical como en horizontal.

Und noch ein paar Worte zu meinem #linux #KDENeon Laptop: Ein jüngstes Update Anfang des Monats hat den "Simple Desktop Display Manager" (sddm) zerschossen, die Büchse bootete nur noch ins Terminal und nicht mehr in den KDE Desktop. Nach mehreren Tagen und Versuchen die KI für mich eine Lösung erarbeiten zu lassen hat es dann irgendwann mit dem reinstall und reconfigure des sddm wieder funktioniert. Somit läuft nun wieder alles, aber Halleluja, zum Glück bin ich nicht auf das Gerät angewiesen. Warum muss so ein sh*t hin und wieder passieren?

(I upgraded a few days ago (I have the Phosh edition), and for some reason, the welcome app appears for a few seconds, then a lock screen with the default wallpaper instead of the one I set, then when I unlock the phone, it looks like as if it crashes, the GUI disappears for a few seconds, then it comes back, unlocked successfully. It only does this after boot, if I lock the screen back, everything is normal, no crash, and the wallpaper is what I set. Arreglando actualización de KDE Neon a Plasma 6.7.0 - sddm
Recientemente mi computadora personal con KDE Neon tuvo una actualización grande y "se rompió". Llevaba 21 días sin reiniciarla o apagarla, así que después de una última apt-get update y apt-get upgrade, la reinicié. Al volver el sistema, me encontré con el familiar login de la línea de comando, y no anda el servidor gráfico.

By the way:
Der erste Monat mit #kdeneon #linux auf meinem HP Laptop ist vorbei. Grundlegend eine total solide Nummer hier. Macht echt Spaß, aber so ganz ohne Aufreger geht's in der Linux Welt ja auch nicht. Das ALT+TAB Fenster hin und her Wechsel Verhalten ist mir leider etwas arg träge, keine Ahnung ob's an KDE Plasma oder der Hardware liegt, auf anderen Büchsen mit Windows oder Ubuntu mit Gnome geht das deutlich(!) flotter. Und dann sind da noch diese ständigen Neustart Aufforderungen nach Update Installationen. Das war ich so bisher auch nicht "gewohnt", aber auch hier kein Vergleich, da vorher noch nie mit KDE zu tun gehabt. Mein geliebtes #linuxmx oder #debian mit #xfce in den VMs will so gut wie nie einen Neustart machen. -
"I spent the afternoon playing games in Steam on Linux and everything worked perfectly" was a much more impressive statement before the Steam Deck came along, but I am still amazed and just how well things have progressed.
All but one game I tried worked without any changes, one I had to nudge to use Proton Experimental. Graphics quality was great, too, but I wasn't playing anything that drove it too hard. Just a few things like Balatro, Peglin, and Wingspan.

Up and running with KDE Neon on my main laptop. No more Windows 11, finally. Though it's just the basics at the moment, the rest shouldn't take long. Having multiple very accessible backups has helped speed along the process. Helps that nearly all the software I use daily is already FOSS or at least cross-platform.
Most things are good on this hardware, even multiple monitors. Audio is weak but I have leads on fixes.

ich habe hier ein spezifisches Problem, welches zwar provisorisch gelöst wurde, aber die Ursache ist noch nicht behoben:
Beim KDE Update auf 6.6.0 (und 6.6.1 hat das Problem natürlich nicht behoben) hat der neue Kernel einen Kernel Panic Screen ausgelöst und ich musste umständlich über das Advanced Menü den vorherigen Kernel booten. Provisorisch gelöst jetzt mit Grub, der sich den nun älteren gebooteten Kernel merkt. Aber was ist die Ursache des Problems?
Ich konnte nur beim oberflächlichen Suchen auf der Ubuntu Forum Seite finden, dass das angeblich eine Inkompatibilität von Virtualbox und VMWare wäre. Weiß da jemand mehr drüber und wenn ja, wie löst man das Problem? -
Mein aktuellstes Experiment ist KDE Neon auf einem HP Elitebook 840 G3, den Microsoft nicht mehr in der #Windows11 Welt haben wollte. Natürlich konnte ich mein liebes #Windows10 noch mit den bekannten Tweaks auf Windows 11 upgraden. Aber es fühlte sich auch nicht geil an. Also verabschiedete ich mich hier und habe nun zum ersten mal einen KDE Plasma Desktop laufen, den ich bisher aus Performance Gründen meiner ganzen legacy Hardware immer gemieden habe.
KDE Neon deswegen, weil mir die Debian Welt näher liegt und mich Cachy OS mit dem (mir bisher recht ungewohnten) Arch Unterbau mehr genervt hat. Mit Debian/Ubuntu und KDE Plasma bin ich sehr zufrieden, Performance stimmt, Optik, Einstellungen. Coole Nummer, so kann's laufen. Have a nice day

Y ni 24 horas después del lanzamiento de la nueva versión de Plasma, KDE Neon ya la tiene disponible. Una vez más, aparte de lo bien que funciona esta distribución Gnu/Linux, me sorprende la rapidez con la que actualiza todo lo relacionado, con el software de KDE.
Una vez más, gracias a los responsables de mantener este sistema operativo libre y a pesar de su incierto futuro, esperemos que aún le queden muchos años por delante.

years ago, i fell in love with #kde . it was a painful, toxic relationship, with baloo always crashing, k-workers making noise but not working, frequent reboots and freezing on his side. At some point I had to walk away mate.
Then about one or two years ago we met again. "you, still alive?!" i gasped excitedly. sparks flew and since then, things are really really good between the two of us. :D

Ich hab da mal wieder eine Frage für Hilfe so in den weiten Raum des Fedi rein :-)
Wer weiß, ob man für ein einzelnes Programm die Updates aussetzen kann?
Konkret geht es um LibreOffice, da möchte ich gerne (aus diversen Gründen) die frühere Version behalten, die sich grade auf meinem Laptop befindet. Blöderweise aktualisiert sich das Teil meist mit den Package Updates der Distro. Gefunden habe ich schon in nem Debian Forum, dass man Pakete auf Hold setzen kann, aber LibreOffice besteht aus vielen Einzel-Paketen. Müsste dann wohl alle einzeln auf Hold setzen...??
Gibt es da nichts praktischeres? 🤔🤔
