What are good alternatives to #hyprland on #wayland ?
I value easy but flexible customisation, allowing to chain many actions in one shortcut, having submaps (aka key chords), fully controlling, focusing and moving spaces around. the eye candy of hyprland is very nice and a plus, but I could forfeit it.
One option would be to move back to qtile, which ticks the boxes but was made unnecessary hard to master due to lacking documentation and frequent breaking changes (years ago).

TIL: there’s a thing named #DankLinux, which is “a complete desktop shell for #niri, #Hyprland, #MangoWC, #Sway, #labwc, #Scroll, #MiracleWM, and other #Wayland compositors”. This might be a quick and easy way to get all the little details working out of the box, and to get a consistent look’n’feel as a bonus.
(EDIT: oh, and it’s based on #QuickShell.)

I'm the maintainer of the #Hyprland spin, and I'm REALLY happy you like it. And we've got more spins coming up - #SwayFX, #Cosmic, #MangoWC etc.
I'm also working on a sister project called #CosmOS, which tries to replicate this on #NixOS. It's still a work-in-progress, though, but one fine day it'll be on par with the other spins.

I started working on #hyprland yesterday and i LOVE the special workspaces. They are so useful for stuff like #keepassxc. A #tilingwindowmanager on a #laptop is just the #goldstandard for me.

i don't know what they are or where they came from, but i like them! I used to enjoy #IceWM. these aren't that bare-bones; are better IMO. But I never leanred to truly customize IceWM because i'm a lazy piece of shit fkkr. i digress.
So yeah. figure this shit out. have a cup of coffee. try the #i3 and #SwayFX #i3blocks and #Hyprland - of the three of those type, whever they are from what planet i do not know, but-- of those three, #Hyprland might come from the sagebrush by way of #CharlieHall

This is a Cinnamon desktop (currently. not sure what i was doing when i asked that. i'll have to try it and see what it looks like today. i am determined to get #i3wm #swayfx and / or #Hyprland to function correctly on this system @linkachus17 ~! 🐞
I was checking out #kdevelop which seems really badass and well-put-together so to speak. i'm sure there's a better 90's word, i mean, 2025's word for it.
anyway.
it's just too much to try to get all of the details. for me, at least. but i did get that far!

Finally found the time to try #FedoraSilverblue, which i wanted to try way earlier. I love it! I mostly used flatpaks anyways so the switch wasn't that hard. I also found to be able to install absolutely everything i need on #Silverblue, including even #Hyprland! The #rpmostree #syntax is a bit different, but #zsh aliases will do the trick for me. My experience of the day is basically, that i don't have to miss anything from #FedoraWorkstation.
