Allo les copains copines #linux ? Ma mère, 78 ans, tourne sur #Mint depuis qqs années. Son portable rend l'âme depuis qqs semaines (ca freeze ... j'aime écrire ce mot en période de canicule).
Je voudrais lui recommander un ordinateur durable, sans prise de tête, sous mint. Il faut du 16 pouces pour la vue qui baisse. Inutile de préciser que la puissance n'est pas la clef : ce n'est pas une joueuse en dehors de petits jeux Web. J'aime l'idée de #Framework. Mais le prix pique en 16 pouces. J'ai vu #Slimbook et #Tuxedo. L'idée : un dernier pc quali qui va durer pour ne pas déstabiliser l'utilisatrice sur le hard et le soft. Des idées / recos ? Merci ! -

I found others have had similar issues with this #AMD processor. After trying different kernel parameters, which should have resolved the issue, I eventually opened a forum ticket about the issue to #slimbook's support forum. It didn't not provide any new insights, so I opened support ticket about the issue.
Support suspected it was a memory issue and send me new memory sticks. Support provided good video instructions, so I could change them myself and set the new memory sticks.
After changing the memory sticks, the suspend and hibernation started working!

I checked the getting started guide and it had work arounds for the issues. #slimbook provides packages for drivers and kernel parameters also for #opensuse #tumbleweed . After installing and configuring those, the ethernet port started working and some of the power management issues resolved. Should have read the guide straight away. 🫣
But the suspend didn't work, it always failed to resume from suspended state. Hibernation worked the first time, but was not able to resume if I hibernated again. I configured most of the power management features off and started looking if others have had similar issues.

I've got a #slimbook Evo 15 a while back, time to share my impressions. It's my first laptop from a Linux manufacturer and hence first experience shopping from #slimbook. The ordering was a good experience, it was assembled quite fast, shipped via UPS (which I had bad feelings), but arrived promptly in December. So far good.

Sometimes I feel really #n00b ...
A couple of day ago the #touchpad on my #slimbook #kde edition stopped working. I restarted, looked at #dmesg, searched the device in #lsusb, but found no clue... I just used a #mouse waiting to have time for a deeper troubleshooting.
Today, I noticed the trackpad was working perfectly before login 🤔
...it was disabled in the settings 🤦
