I need a new laptop (and your help).

I recently lost my «Framework Laptop 13» (Intel 12th Gen i7, 64GB RAM) on the train. It never reappeared, although it was left in a train heading for the depot. (Was it stolen by the cleaning personal?)

Now I need a new device.

I'm not really keen on getting another Framework device because of their «Big Tent» approach (and supporting far-right activists without regretting it), even though they have really nice hardware. Looking at you, @frameworkcomputer.

The new device should have about the same specs as the old one: a recent CPU, at least 64 GB of memory, be around the same size and weight as the «Framework 13», be easily repairable and upgradable. It will run Fedora. An open firmware would be a plus.

Is there anything out like this?

I'm thinking about getting a Tuxedo laptop (@tuxedocomputers), but I’m not entirely sure if it's the best fit. Does anyone have suggestions for a device that meets these criteria.

What are your suggestions? Thanks for any hints.

Anyone else experiencing panel scuffing from their Framework laptop keyboard?

In fairness it's not only the Framework, all recent laptops I've owned have this problem. My older laptops - X200 and X220 - never did because the depth of the bezel ensured the panel never touched the keyboard.

If you own a framework, check the battery today! Also limit max charge percentage to 70% or 80%, and then drain the battery if it’s above the configured threshold.

I guess a win for open-source and open-hardware in a way, my #FrameworkLaptop laptop had issues with recognising USB ports and there was a major boot issue with my operating system. #fedoralinux fixes the boot issue 'automagically', Linux has really progressed! I followed the guide to reset the motherboard on Framework's site, and now the USB ports work perfectly fine.

Bought Slay the Spire 2 yesterday and I'm really digging it so far! (is that the correct usage of 'digging'?)

When I wanted to play it whilr traveling today, it insisted on using the dGPU of my Framework 16 and I was only able to play for like 45 minutes :(

Currently I'm trying to figure out why it primarily runs on the iGPU but still keeps the dGPU active...
