I guess a win for open-source and open-hardware in a way, my #FrameworkLaptop laptop had issues with recognising USB ports and there was a major boot issue with my operating system. #fedoralinux fixes the boot issue 'automagically', Linux has really progressed! I followed the guide to reset the motherboard on Framework's site, and now the USB ports work perfectly fine.

I just noticed an ingenious property of the design of @frameworkcomputer's modules that confused me initially:
Why have these USB-C modules that merely extend the mainboard port when you could just have slots embedded into the frame?
I realised that USB-C ports degrade.
When that happens, the fix is trivially easy: swap in a cheap module in <10 s.If the ports of the motherboard were exposed directly, you'd need to either re-solder new ports or swap the entire board.

Hatte seit ein paar Tagen am Laptop plötzlich extreme WLAN-Probleme, Verbindung zum Access Point immer nur noch für wenige Sekunden und dann nicht erklärbarer dauerhafter Abbruch. Die lange Analyse der (nicht geänderten) Software hätte ich mir sparen können: Andere WLAN-Karte geholt, eingesteckt und schon läuft es wie früher 🙄 Da scheint die Mediadreck-Karte einfach den Geist aufgegeben zu haben, jetzt geht es mit einer Intel AX 210 weiter.
Tipp für solche Fälle, bei denen man kein Internet per Kabel bekommen kann: Smartphone per USB anschließen, #Tethering aktivieren und das Smartphone als externe WLAN-Karte einsetzen. Funktioniert einwandfrei und erstaunlich schnell 😅 Keine Dauerlösung, aber als temporärer Workaround überraschend gut. Android kann ja auch Tethering und gleichzeitig selbst im WLAN sein.

My phone is a Fairphone 4 with @e_mydata (deggogled android from @murena).
My e-ink notebook is now a Ratta Supernote.
And after waiting a long time (and fighting my IT department), my laptop is finally a @frameworkcomputer.
All brands dedicated to the right to repair and upgrade.And all of this connected through privacy-respecting cloud services.
Slowly and very happily moving towards more sustainable and ethical electronics.

Gestern kam entgegen der Erwartung schon mein Laptop an 🤩
Also einen Tag früher als angekündigt!
Somit kann ich sagen, dass das Ganze ca 5 - 6 Tage dauert. Ich war echt ein wenig begeistert, wie schnell das Teil von Land zu Land gereist ist. Man sieht das genau auf einem Versand Tracker.
Ich freu mich mega und das erste was ich zu Beginn der freien Zeit/Urlaubszeit ab Freitag abend machen werde, ist, den Laptop zusammen zu bauen, gemeinsam mit meinem Sohnemann.
Werde das unter dem Hashtag "FrameworkLaptop" und "LinuxOnFramework" fortlaufend hier posten. 😊 -

Weil Leute immer mal wieder danach fragen, wie das bei Framework mit dem Versand eines Laptops nach Deutschland läuft (ich hab das auch gefragt vor meiner Bestellung), kann ich jetzt sagen: Gestern abend bestellt, heute mittag auf die Reise gegangen. Kommt voraussichtlich am 18ten an.
