Prototype goes brrrrr... 😎
Again, fully in prototype phase, but will have this in with the next bigger patch.
-
Probably want to add the ability to fill the area under/below and between curves in Graphs 2.1.
Seems like a sensible feature to have in, and can lead to quite pretty/clear figures.
This is just a quick poc, but I have a quite clear idea about the implementation and an initial MR shouldn't take more than a day of actual work, but I do need to find some focused time to work on it.

New from me: Another set of Linux app recommendations!
This week we're looking at an offline maps viewer, a terminal multiplexer, and a magnification tool.

It's so sad. With 📆 CalDAV we have a really nice open protocol for syncing events, todos and notes. The protocol, which is technically more of a file format (iCalendar) even supports quite complex reccurence rules and even things like recurring tasks.
Unfortunately, client (and server) applications usually only implement a subset of what's possible.
Know some good ones? Let me know!

Linux App Summit would not exist without the generous contributions from our sponsors. @opensuse is especially special to us as the first to sponsor to LAS. They provided the initial seed money to start this conference and have been a consistent supporter for ten years! Thank you so much, @opensuse!

🍎✨Oh joy, yet another way to clutter your pristine Mac with Linux apps you barely use, because who wouldn't want to run a Rust-written #Wayland #compositor on macOS? 🤖It's like deploying a spaceship to fetch groceries – overly complicated and completely unnecessary. 🚀🥴

When I come home and my phone connects to the wifi that my Linux (Gnome) PC is also connected to, I would like all my new photos to be automatically sent from my phone to my PC.
I would like this to happen without:
- sending the photos via any third party on the internet
- using any proprietary apps
- having to set up Syncthing or anything similarly difficultIs this even possible? If not, what's the second best alternative?
Thank you!

I think we need a way to tag apps on Flathub as sending your input to an online LLM. If you do too, maybe give this issue a thumbs up? https://github.com/ximion/appstream/issues/652#issue-2471052438

I just recently learned about two "new"(?) e-mail clients for Linux:
Aerion, which says it's inspired by Geary. https://aerion.3df.io
And Betterbird, which is Thunderbird with quite a few extra bug fixes and small features, like support for systray icon in Linux. https://www.betterbird.eu/
Anyone have any experience with any of these?

Another successful week around the @kde app ecosystem. With a first release of Glaxnimate as part of KDE, more improvements regarding Marknote and much more!
-
Pues he instalado Vocalinux para dictar cosas (speech to text) y ni tan mal.

It’s been a while, but here are some updates regarding @[email protected]
apps. This includes many new features in Marknote and Drawy, some UI improvements in Itinerary, a new home page for Audiotube, and much more! -
Digital Sovereignty was the hot new topic at #FOSDEM. What does digital sovereignty mean to you and how do you see Linux applications support digital sovereignty?

RE: https://hachyderm.io/@thisismissem/116087571530458888
This is such an interesting thread as it exposes the friction between ATProtocol/ActivityPub. Clearly, there are some cultural issues.
It's important to understand and I say this often to our own desktop projects - we are always stronger together than apart.
We are not competitors. We are allies.
Understandably we might compete on investment and volunteers but those sort themselves.

Can I share sound from my Android phone to my Linux PC? There are so many more apps for streaming music on Android than Linux.
KDE Connect doesn't have that feature.

Wow, huge update of Transmission! Including support for IPv6. One and a half year after the last stable release.
Well done, team!

As promised yesterday, here is a new issue of This Week in @kde Apps.
In the menu, there is a lot of new stuff in @neochat, a release of Calligra Plan with Qt6 and more work toward Drawy!

I was just updating the list of changes in the upcoming version of Graphs. The list is getting pretty long at this point 📈
We probably don't have any major additions planned for this release at this point (meaning we're getting close).
Apart from having a look at the feasibility of adding support for error bars, as well as parametric sliders for the new equations within this release. If not now, those are the two major things that are next on the list.

I got a little tired of the normal cli workflow for homebrew, the package installer, which works on linux.
So, I worked with Claude to scratch my itch. Seems to have worked great for me and my personal brew system.
If you are interested, it is on github at https://github.com/threeforksp/brewhouse

After almost a year a new version of the great video player Clapper is finally released! And it's pretty big. Thank you Rafostar!
-
Congrats to the pretty slick video player #Clapper with its first release with support for Windows!
https://github.com/Rafostar/clapper/releases/tag/0.8.0
And I love the new feature that let's you auto-set the aspect ratio of the window to the aspect ratio of the video by middle clicking it! Reminds me of my idea for #Gnome to have a way to lock aspect ratios when resizing windows, for these kinds of use cases! https://gitlab.gnome.org/Teams/Design/whiteboards/-/issues/283

Every time there's a new version of #CopyQ I update it in hopes that it will have started working again now. And the answer is always no. It starts, but does not pick up anything I copy. It's been like this for a long time, across distros. I suspect it's got something to do with #Wayland? But I see Wayland mentioned in the changelog as if it works? Makes me sad, CopyQ is such an incredible tool. Is there anything similarly powerful for #Gnome? #Linux #LinuxApps

@gloopsies @gnome @hare @GTK @FlatpakApps
I think this looks really cool!
While I do like #inkscape :inkscape:, I think it would be very nice to have a simple #libadwaita vector graphic app that looks more native on #gnome :gnome:.
Is the WIP code for this public? I haven't yet found a git repo :git: of this project.

Basically, we updated the manifest to build our deps from source. This helps a lot with dependency updates for instance, and makes things more replicable.
However, it seems the default branch from Flathub just shit the bed. The issue is definitely with openblas, hence `export OPENBLAS_CORETYPE=NEHALEM` solving this.
The interesting thing is that the build from GNOME Builder works fine. It's just the one created by flatpaks buildbot that has this issue.
